I have a problem when fishing. When a fish bites I get the message “you can’t fish without bait on the hook.” And when I catch a fish I get 1 of 2 messages “you give up” or “ your line breaks”. Both cases a fish was caught and my line didn’t break or my rod.
I am not sure if this is a issue specifically to me or if it known. Any suggestions or help is appreciated

You're on the wrong game version.

Make sure you use the nasomi installer only to play on nasomi.

Yes I recently stopped playing retail, I’ve always ad private servers already setup.... I just updated the ip to connect

Yeah, that'd be why.

Use the nasomi installer instead, it'll fix a lot more than just the fishing messages.

I tried that link you sent me didn make a different

Either you didn't actually use the nasomi version (for example, by installing retail afterwards), or you went through processes like updating FFXI afterwards (which breaks it! do not update FFXI/POL/etc! ever!).

If you use the Nasomi installer then simply launch the game, you won't have these issues. Trying to re-use game files from elsewhere will cause them.

Would there be away to install a second ffxi and have 2 separate versions and access them by changing the Ashoka execution program/boot command to access each at will?
