Played retail from 03 on and off over the years. Wondering if someone is playing about 15-20hrs fresh start how long does it take to get a job to 75? I want to compare to my original experience and see. Main thing is trying to get an idea of how many people are around in each of the leveling areas. Are you waiting several hours to get into a party to level?

Thanks

The server is very busy. How long it takes you to get a party will depend on what hours of the day you play, what job you're on, whether or not you're willing to build the party, etc. If anything I have trouble getting parties going because of a lack of available camps. Places are packed lately! Generally speaking leveling here has been far faster than in retail, but you still have to pause to grind out gil to keep yourself at least moderately geared/spells up to date.

There are a lot of people doing a lot of leveling - if you are a desirable job, and have become popular by being good at it, you'll hit 75 in a few months if you are playing 15-20hrs a week.

If you're a poorly geared THF or BLM, you're gonna have a hard time... but if you're well-geared on those and have good friends, it won't take much longer than as if you were something like a BRD.

A month or so if you're hardcore. A couple of months if you take time to do missions and camp for gear in between leveling sessions.

Consider playing two characters at once (dual boxing) because it makes soloing much easier in between parties. You can often get 4-6k/hour at low levels with a DD and a mage by just killing DC-T mobs one at a time.

Dualboxing is dumb and people don't like poor dualboxers in parties. You'll have to spend twice the amount of time and over twice the effort to farm on your 2 chars, too.

If you want to dualbox, start doing it before you go serious into CoP missions. That way, you can do those on both your character if you decide to play 2 - but most people do not play 2 characters on Nasomi.

"Dualboxing is dumb" is a personal opinion. It doubles your utility at endgame.

People don't like poor players in parties. Not just poor dualboxers.

I agree with this.

Sounds like someone is still salty WHM has a harder time finding parties due to the copious PL characters running about.

OP, don't listen to this pompous, biased, and incorrect opinion; your overall game experience will be a lot more convenient in almost every regard if you choose to dualbox and become skilled at it. The amount of content that a RDM and a DD can duo on this server is staggering.

I had no problems finding a party on WHM. I'm salty because I've never met a dualboxer who played either of their 2 characters as well as any decent player who played only one at a time.

We're at the point (in terms of server population) where dualboxing should just be stopped altogether.

NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE WHO HAS AN ESTABLISHED SECONDARY CHARACTER ALREADY! PROPS TO YOU!

Most players wouldn't even be able to function properly or be able to do what they do now if they suddenly couldn't use their alt, that says a lot on how powerful having a second character is, but that's stating the obvious. Some players even use a character they don't even own or were given, as their alt.

Things can still be done, might take longer and more effort, but it can still be done.

They were nice when the population was still low, they're nice for PLing, but it really needs to be looked at again, but never will be. So that's a plus to everyone who already does.

Edit: In fact, a level cap on the alt character should be imposed, like how mules can't be over level 10. Something like level 60, now THAT'D be interesting.
Another edit: I forgot to mention this is just my personal opinion, so please, try not to lose your cool over this post, I already know there's a 99.99^% chance of this not happening. This is just my honest opinion about how I feel about dualboxing. Nice at first, might need to be looked at now.

You had no problems because Onihi made parties and always included you in that little static he ran; I was invited to a good number of those myself. Your experience on this server is not at all representative of the normal WHM experience, so let's not pretend otherwise.

Regardless, don't just throw out your personal opinion without stating as such. You provide a lot of factual answers to many questions on here, a valuable service to the community. However, because of this, many newer players who haven't had the unique Nabutso experience and don't know to take your words with 5 lbs. of salt will listen to you blindly and accept your words as fact. Be aware of your own pedestal or step off it.
