Well it looks like respect and manners are out the window on these forums. Time to transfer my armor and weapon to the forum for a moment.

If you want to kill aggressive mobs only, then hit level 3~4 and go do that.
Thanks. Good to know it will eventually be possible.

You must be trying to roleplay a pacifist or something?
Pacifist? Not swinging swords at peaceful bats flying in the air? Does not compute. I don't play bad video games, that's all.

It's a video game.

What drugs are you on?
There are some very stupid people playing this video game. I suppose this is why there are no aggressive creatures at the beginning. Then they would need to know how to press the movement keys, or make the logical connection that if something killed them then they should be more careful. I'm not exaggerating either (if I suppose I am even among people who think I might be), I don't know what kind of hole some of these vile things live in...but keep your fantasy lives of insulting complete strangers to yourself. What kind of sad life you must live that you spend your free time typing insults onto a computer screen.

I'm dumbfounded... This is without a doubt the first time I've ever heard this said about FFXI.
Really? I thought the first Final Fantasy (14 years before this) was too easy. Square's Genesis: Beyond the Revelation, which I think was from the 1987 too, is the only RPG of theirs that I have ever played that was challenging. No tutorials in that by the way. Once you left the town you could easily die in the first fight (it was a post-apocalyptic type of game).

New players need to learn to use the battle system. That process is streamlined by making all lv1 mobs reactive rather than active. Once a player learns the basics (assuming he or she does not stray too far from the city gates), then he or she will have to learn how to deal with mobs that can and will make the first move. It has nothing to do with ethics--it was a pragmatic player-training decision.
Yes as I said too strange. Not going to play a bad video game (with all due respect to the creators of this server for keeping alive something from the past...online games are weird, filled with many weird people) It's not really new though... look at the aesthetics of Seiken Densetsu and Secret of Mana (1991 and 1993) ... those were some eerie games. To think that they were trying to make killing things into some kind of silly game for children (or Dragon Quest in 1986 for that matter). Give me an instruction manual any day...yeesh...
Anyway...it would be nice if these forums weren't a nest of mean-spirited people. But I have my answer, and won't be back.

do some hugs to gobs or orcishs, you will se if they are friendly for a lvl 1
I didn't hug them, but I was killed by a goblin. I think it killed me in one hit, almost the same with a worm that cast a 30 damage spell on me (nearly all my life) and one of the bipeds with a shell on its back that killed me in a few hits. I had no chance whatsoever to defeat these.
I don't mean to insult anyone's favorite video game, or discredit the work that has been done here, but I won't bear ignorance and insults silently, at least in this context... it's one of those things where you pay the price for the company you keep I suppose (supposing I offended or annoyed anyone).
