You make the decision to either leave the party or stick with it. If you want to leave a bad party just let them know. You can say something along the lines of "Hey I'm sorry but this party isn't working out for me, good luck guys." If they choose start to harass you for leaving then screenshot the chat and report them for verbal harassment. You aren't forced to stay in a party but you should definitely make them aware that you're unhappy with the setup versus just dropping the party. I hope my opinion helps you, good luck buddy. :)

On another note, I was half-attempting to make a joke (I find the Deodorize spell funny). To my great shame, it bombed epically

I end up suggesting how to make the party a bit better but that never goes well. Usually but suggesting a different comp. or changing the SC around. Unfortunately that never seems to work out and some players take constructive criticism very poorly.

It stank indeed.

SC in FFXI usually means Skill Chain. When two weapons skills of a certain type combined they may create a extra damage that is called Skill Chain. You can then have blm or someone with magic attack to due bonus damage to it depending on element.
