Yes, needlessly shitting on someone’s hard work that you consider yourself above, for faulty reasons, but using a pseudonym that you created to match your in game pseudonym is way more noble and different than doing that with a second pseudonym.

It is different. If I wanted to play again because nas got his priorities with his server straight, I would sooner solo play bst on steena than play on an alias if more than the people who bother with the forums actively hated me.

Well, they were probably lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
But as I said, it's very possible to start even without any financial help.

What I find irritating about the idea of a new player accepting handouts and then playing alongside well-geared players at end game right away is that the hardcore/difficulty aspect of era ffxi is destroyed. For me this is the only acceptable reason to play Nasomi over retail and when that disappears it's just an unreasonable evasion of the monthly sub fee that should be paid to SE.

People can do what they like, sure. They should pay SE a retail monthly sub fee though, even if they don't play on retail...

idk about the monthly sub statement, but I do agree with the difficulty statement. I find that most of the elitist people had it the easiest and also defend handouts. They are also the meanest people of the population that demean the opinions of others.

Dunno.. Aeroo is up there with being called "mean" and "elitist" by most people, but he got nothing when he started. The same goes with almost any of the "old money" on the server (and Aeroo isn't "old money").

The people that defend handouts are typically those giving them out, not receiving them. These people give out more gil than you've made in your life, because they know better than anyone how rough it was at first.

Of course, you don't have to accept the money. And some people don't. In the end, the people who put in hard work end up successful regardless of what they started with. Being angry about it is just making a scapegoat for your own failures. Anyone can succeed. No one succeeded because of 1m gil day 1.

I guarantee you that, given some imaginary scenario where everyone has to start over, the same people on top now would end up on top again - because it's not what they have that made them rich, it's how they got there.

I don’t think I could possibly be less surprised by the group of people that think giving or receiving some gil when you start is a reason for later success, or that it should be frowned upon.

If you had told me this was happening on the forums, I’d have guessed the people in this thread with my first guesses.

Maybe that should tell you something, maybe not, just thought that was funny.
