Ah prices are INSANE for new players to buy anything. Was there at one time an exploit for people to make alot of gil on this server? The server pop is too small to justify the insane numbers that things cost without that happening at one point. If thats not the case then its the same people with alts and its the same people passing money back and fourth to each other.

Which prices are insane? Most items will be higher than their NPC price, especially at low levels, so I'm wondering which exactly you mean.

Yeah the economy is rotten for new players, best thing you can do is muddle ur way through lvls til ur high enough to start farming some things decently well / NM camping. Try doing quests around town etc to get some starting cash, the repeatable quests will add up.

To answer your question though, yes there was an exploit a long while back to get a ton of gil, from what I've been told Nas deleted most of the gil generated from that. Fishing has also added a ton of gil into circulation.
