HELMF op, HELMF. Low startup cost and undoubtedly profitable.

Or just go play FFXIV where gil doesn’t matter.

I'm guessing people are selling fame items, cabbages at Sandoria, cornettes at Bastok that they are selling to newbies that might not know better or don't have OPs. If you talk to streamers every now and then they might slip a little morsel of info. You could do the make a new character and get 10k+ by yelling "Im new" in cities. Or just not upgrade your gear someone is bound of give you some freebies. Don't worry boss if I find out any secrets I'll report back. I'll flow like water within their ranks, they'll never find me out.

Anyone with level 25 THF can generate 30k/hour from nothing by farming Buburimu dhalmels. Anyone at 50+ can generate almost 100k/hour farming Tiger fangs. Fortunately for the server we have groups constantly dumping gil into Dynamis, otherwise the inflation would be ten times worse than it is.

There are so many gil guides and so many people helping new players, I don't get why people think that anyone is trying to make things difficult for new players.

I don't think I'm an asshole, but I'll keep him anyways.

As someone who regularly buys items off the AH that I know exist on NPC's for cheaper, in other cities, this is a very respectable hustle for folks starting out.

While revealing the items I'm talking about would help me out, as more people would drive it closer to the NPC price..... I also see what it's like to start out, and respect the people that have figured it out. Go do that.

Sometimes you can also work the other way around - you can occasionally find items on AH cheaper than their vendor value and that's basically free gil. Not a lot, many cases just a few gil difference, but when you start with only 10 gil in your pocket and every single gil matters it may actually be worthwhile. Rusty buckets used to be a good example (though right now seems that prices did reach the vendor value).

Yeah the economy is rotten for new players, best thing you can do is muddle ur way through lvls til ur high enough to start farming some things decently well / NM camping.

Lolwhut? You can easily make 10-50k just leveling a job to 15 if you know what to xp off of and sell everything on the AH. LATE GAME 50k might not be much but it easily gets you a full set of armor to level with at that level.

^^
If I recall correctly before level 15 I didn't really buy anything off AH, only vendors.

The problem is that if too many people follow the exact same gil guides to the letter their usefulness will inevitable decrease. It's safe to assume that indeed many people have their "secret gil methods" that they don't tell others about. I just rely on these guides as a base, then I try tweaking.

I really hate when people take today's prices and try to say that some how that was indicative to the past economies while blaming veteran players(accused of having it easier) of gatekeeping on today's iteration of Nasomi. There was a time where Serket rings never sold because it would be up for anyone who wanted one. Argus and many other NM's were the same way back then. NM camping was not the greatest way to make gil on this server because everyone had those items at the time. As the server grew, more and more competition started to appear at those NM's thus prices began to rise. You had a very sketchy crew that showed up(all are banned now) that did nothing but cause cancer at those money NM's for a 2 year span which caused a massive price spike on those goods. As more people joined the server, the prices of items kept rising because the competition grew for said items.

When I was fairly new to the server, I could schedule when I wanted to kill cassie/serket and roc, simurgh was broken almost the first full year after I started. The big seller on Serket back then wasn't even the ring, it was the claw. The big seller on Cassie wasn't the earring, it was the cape. These NM's literally sat up for days at a time. The money was always in the materials or people HQ'ing things from crafting. Its crazy when new people look at a peacock charm and say, wow 3mil. That thing was 50k back in the day because people who wanted it, camped it. 50k got you almost nowhere when a stack of shiehi was running 20k a stack because fishing didn't exist and the fish needed to make ink was only obtained from a NPC with a fixed price. A NQ icestaff was 700k and Bliz,Fire,Aero IV, water IV were 500+K a pop. NI was 1.5mil+ back then for those who decided to brave leveling ninja with 20k a stack shiehi. Cities crashed at least a dozen of times a day, the spaces allotted for Bazaaring(nas boat and then circuit) crashed often as well making it hard to move those goods.

You also can't really blame people for when they found the server either. Over the years I've learned that each generation of players will have obstacles to overcome. Things eventually will always get fixed, many of you guys missed the days where a few heckbois could dictate the entirety of endgame by crashing a zone before ToD preservation was added into the game. Back then, people could keep all the HNMs they wanted in whatever time zone that fit best for them because they were crashing the zones and resetting the mobs ToD. There were many camps I was apart of where the full 3hours passed with no pop only to find the group that crashed the zone waiting on the pop at 2-5am the next day.

Assuming there is some nefarious conspiracy where server vets have conspired to keep new players down is incredibly ignorant. The reality is there is 1700+ people playing at peak times and competition is everywhere now. Things are cutthroat now where as back then it really wasn't as such. So if you really need someone to blame, blame the growth and success of the server. The more who play, the more demand for certain items is going to exist. Always have the approach that things will get changed over time, more things will get coded and fixed, that either makes life easier or harder on Nasomi.

I love posts like this - hearing about what it was like way back before how it is now.

I was thinking about playing again, glad I came to read threads like this to convince me not to. Thank you for saving me a bunch of time.
