I'm pretty sure he's talking about spook spawning in a room full of people and getting claimed ridiculously fast. Before anybody else can even target it. (I've witnessed it first hand) It spawns, somebody provokes it... BEFORE I can target it. Watched it happen about 10 times. I didn't even try to claim. Just target it with an unclaimed name (not purple)

I just want to chime in and say that I've had spook insta claimed in front of me for the past 4-5 hours. In a row. Instantly.

I'm not saying I'm the best NM camper in town, but I've had multiple LL claims, and multiple Huu claims since I started playing on Nas a little over a week ago.

This Spook thing is ridiculous though. It's claimed even before the mob finishes loading onto the screen, it's still translucent when it goes red getting provoked.

I've got sub 200 S and between 200-400 R as far as connection goes.

I'm going to try moving to see if making "noise" will claim it.

S and R are not ping. Those network stats don't matter for claiming unless so high that your client can't process them.

The spook claiming is AUTO-CLAIM. Spook will claim automatically to someone eligible (in aggro range) on spawn. That's how lots of HNMs work here too, it's an ANTI-CLAIMBOT system, and I've been telling nas that every single newbie on the server misunderstands and thinks it's CLAIM BOTTING and not an ANTI-CLAIMBOT mechanic, so it leads to this terrible terrible perception that people cheat constantly here.

Yea Spook seems like a terrible candidate for the auto claim mechanic since its triggered by geting agro. Arcidias you're probably too high leveled to even agro spook so you have 0% chance of getting auto claim on it. Your only chance is to /heal. Auto claim is far from perfect and it truly sucks the fun out of a lot of hnm camps. But so does actual claim botting or the daily accusations of claim botting. There really is no good solution.
