Hi all, ive tried everything from the dx8 to 9 fix, unchecking gamepad, nothing works. There is a constant microstutter regardless of what i do, ive tried to set my affinity to 1 core through task manager and nothing. Does anyone have thoughts as to how to get a solid smooth 60? I have a 1080 and an i7 with windows 10

Is your controller enabled in the FFXI config? If so, can you disable it, or plug one in? There is an issue where the game tries to detect a controller if it's enabled but not plugged in.

To make changes to the FFXI config, it needs to be run as admin, btw. Maybe you didn't do that?

Is there an actual stutter happening or is it 'smooth' at 57 fps?

Constantly stuttering, like a heartbeat. Its so strange, and my eyes are sensitive to it. Ive kind of figured a fix and to cap it at 55 fps using rivatuner, but still.. i dont know why its showing 57 and not 59

May not be able to get around it completely unless you can use gsynch/freesynch. All depends on if it is because of repeated frames or something else causing an actual dip in the rendering of frames. If it is actually rendering a steady 57fps against your monitor's "static" 59/60 FPS, then enabling dynamic synch should eliminate those repeated frames and smooth things out considerably. All depends on if your hardware provides the option.

Otherwise, may need to find some tweaks you can do to get your framerate closer to the monitor's refresh rate, or at least a better fraction of it. Why it is sometimes better to shoot for a consistent 29/30fps against a 59/60hz display because it does a better job at avoiding the mismatched render/refresh problem that can strain the eyes.
