Apparently some butthurt script kiddie is DDOSing the server and website because he was caught violating the TOS.

I hear its been going on for about 3 days now. If this keeps up, I hate to say it but the guys in charge of the sever are going to have to implement a strict whitelist
that insta-bans any IP that tries to login without a forum account and blocks VPNs by default. This may lead to some issues logging in for people who move around alot but
lets think about the long term, if this butthurt script kiddie knows what he's doing is making the game unplayable, then he won't stop.

If he suddenly finds himself unable to DDOS the server however and finds he can't hit it even after extensive tries he may give up entirely after some time.

depends on how the flood is happening, and the defensive measures in place... depending on the variables at play, could even hose up some firewalls.

any form of DDoS is just such a d!ckish move in general... hopefully they figure out a way to mitigate this one soon.

On the updside, Windblows is prompting for a winupdate, so I will be out of commission for a while... especially if it is that October update they pulled because of the botched file corruption. Got the rebuild of it on the media server last weekend. Like how they finally fully implemented the dark theme (explorer is SOOOO much easier on the eyes). But man, it took forever for it to finish....

A DDoS on anything but large networks is just about saturating the pipe. Nasomi could drop an Arbor TMS device in between the servers and his internet connection and it wouldn't matter if all of his connection is being taken up by the DDoS. Banning IPs, disabling VPNs, etc., won't do anything.

Fix has to happen upstream at his ISP.

Could you fish any more with your responses? We get it, you probably play on Eden and are butthurt that the best private server doesnt live up to your impeccably high standards. No one who hecking matters is fed up with Nasomi, only the people who woulda fizzled out anyway.
