You might be shocked, but some people like to (try) help others.
I just wrote a few generic lines containing facts, and the last part - about the top guilds was just made because some people think that they should play more and more to obtain what the most achieved have, not realising those "1%" are OFTEN plagued with rule breaking or bending.
Nothing personal about anyone else in the post (if you would of read the whole post you would of noticed that i said i was officer/leader in top guilds on various games - yes, in some of them i had best in slot equipment/very rare/sought after items and was fighthing with other guilds for the top pvp or pve objectives the game had to offer).
If you take proven real life issues and transform them in your mind into attacks on your lifestyle/playstyle then i don't even need to continue, the people that can read/understand english and are impartial can conclude for themselves; like i said, if the thread helps even 1 person i'm happy, i am aware not all people can be helped by a few lines of text which are not even written by a addiction treatment specialist.
As for it belonging to off-topic, when you played retail ffxi you had to read this everytime you started the client, so i posted it in "main chat".
Problem with ffxi and other old-school mmos is that you must spend huge amounts of time if you want to get anywhere; i am aware this is a 16 year old game and almost all players are adults, but, like i said before, adulthood does not come with maturity or self control.
Think of the post like a visit to a drug treatment/alcohol treatment facility, which shows people what can happen if they over-do certain things, or a visit to someone that lost his/her whole fortune gambling.
If the game has no negative impact on your life in any way, then why not share how you manage that? I for one, after seeing what drugs, alcohol, gambling and EXCESSIVE gaming can do i decided avoiding them completely.
Addictions that impact on your quality of life in any way are BAD - ask a proffesional or watch a documentary featuring one - you might find yourself as someone experiencing the same symptomps/behaviour of those presented as cases in those documentaries.
You have a seriously deluded sense of self-worth if you think writing any of this is helping a soul. You're hilariously transparent. Just stop.
