I’m actually very surprised blink me not is not an approved plugin after learning that style lock existed on this server at some point. Maybe it’s not as needed due to spellcast/gearswap not being a thing here but I definitely appreciated having it in retail when you had tanks who would swap gear more than once during a spell cast.

<stal>

Stal is good if you don't equip swap yourself for cure and enhancements, but if you use wait after <stal>, even though the spell waits for you to cast, the wait command is already counting, so unless you set it for much longer or are very quick in selection you'll change back to your idle set before spell goes off.

Have a separate macro for your idle gear. Having your idle set in the same macro as your heal macro is just amateur.

Or, learn how to properly macro:

1. /target <stal>
2. /equipset x (pre-cast set)
3. /ma "Refresh" <lastst> <wait 1>
4. /target <bt> (optional, if you like your active target to always return to the monster as I do)
5. /equipset y <wait 3> (enhancing gear set)
6. /equipset z (idle set)

Adjust all gear sets and waits accordingly for each spell you cast. You've now basically re-created the Spellcast plugin using the 6 lines of macro afforded to you (as in, taking advantage of a pre-cast, mid-cast, and post-cast gear set).

Also, because your first line of the macro is a simple target, if you click the macro, and before selecting a target you say "nevermind", you can escape the prompt without swapping out of your idle gear. Also, because you haven't blinked into precast yet, you will never kill your targetting arrow until you make a selection, even on self-targetted spells like refresh, haste, etc.

Still not a fan of putting an idle set in whats ultimately a 4 second macro. If I have to interrupt that macro at any point in time, I still need a means to get back into Idle gear, so I like to make it muscle memory to do that anytime I switch out of it for that reason. Great macro irregardless tho.

lockstyle is detrimental to the aesthetics of the game, in a sense; pre-WotG XI was all about PLDs rocking Koenig body or Ares Cuirass, with Omega shorts and turban, Adaberk DRKs with orange helmets, Dalmatica mages, Bards sporting Vrtra manteels, etc., some looks became iconic because people would normally wear their best-in-slot gear around town to show off and lockstyle wasn't there to mess things up.

Even at low levels, you could instantly tell someone's level and/or job by glancing at their equip. Subligar? Newbie. Scale Mail or Chainmail? Either exping in Khazam or Dunes. Iron Musketeer stuff or Brigandine? Are you headed to Garlaige or Crawler's Nest? And so forth.

Being surrounded by those very same visual cues upon logging into the game helps a lot with making you feel like you're actually playing XI circa 2005. Little details that add up to make you feel at home.

Besides, I don't recall having it in the game either when I played retail (up until WotG release).

EDIT: also, damn you Nas, you played me like a damn fiddle that day in Qufim!

Oh, I always have a macro dedicated to doing nothing but putting on idle gear, because when you're ambushed out of nowhere in the middle of a stoneskin, Raise, etc. you still need that "oh sht" button to put on PDT/Move speed and GTFO, haha. I agree there completely.

I'm asking for Chocobo Digging! That was my jam on retail. My one regret is that I was never able to reach A10 before I quit in 2010.

I knew it felt half implemented. Sometimes it works as if it's implemented, but the zone is empty. Other times it just doesn't work at all. And yes I test it every so often just on the off chance Nas added it without saying anything.
