The creators of this game fashioned up a warning message about the consequences of spending too much time in Vana'diel: a place where they designed and implemented as many unnecessary time-sinks and setbacks as possible. They made a boss so difficult that it made a bunch of people physically sick trying to kill it. OP, are you Japanese by chance?
