While I don't necessarily agree with everything the OP pointed out, dual boxing rules SHOULD be looked at again AND reevaluated by Nasomi.

Impose a level cap on the Alternate character just like with the Mule character (level 10). Level 60 is appropriate, high enough to do capped battles and to tag along with your Main character with access to a lot of skills/magic. Not so high enough to bring into endgame. Not so low enough that it's useless anywhere else. Most of these characters will end up being WHM or RDM with this change.

Dual boxing was fine when the population was low, but now the population is at a point where limiting it shouldn't be an issue to other players (both in favor and against it), only because any MMO is meant to be played with ONE character and to rely on teamwork from OTHER players. If you are given the option to use 2 characters, great, but don't think that it should stay the way it is forever, especially with why it was there in the first place.

Players are able to do much more in the game with 2 characters than just 1. If you take that away, most if not all of the players who dual boxed suddenly can't function properly because they can't do what they used to, which is both sad and hilarious, but it shows just how much of an advantage it provided.

OBVIOUSLY, dual boxing is going to be here to stay, because you know, Nasomi. I would like it to be removed, but we all know it won't, so the only other option is to LIMIT it, which should have been the case in the first place.

I am an oddity I think. I played for about a year on a single character, then for about the same amount of time on two characters. I am currently wrestling with whether I'm going to go back to playing a single character again. I had more fun when I played only one. To me, dualboxing feels more like work than play having to alt tab back and forth and keep track of almost twice as many things.

For me, dualboxing kills some of my immersion into my character. I am beginning to realize that it is a big deal to me to be able to experience everything that happens in real time on a single character and react to it right away. It is much more satisfying to play a character at 100% of my ability than it is to play two at 80-90% effectiveness.

The two characters together are far stronger, but that isn't always the most important thing.


It just kind of sucks that I am just now getting my 2nd character fully caught up to my first, lol.

And what of all the gear I've gotten for my "alt", Drop? It's thoughts like this that are dangerous. SquareEnix never had a rule against dualboxing and I'm sure they would've actually preferred if more people did(hello sub fees) back in those days. Nasomi has never had a rule against dualboxing and in fact the ability to have a 2nd character is why I started playing here. Literally OP got triggered because of an NM camp and now we have people asking for stupid shit like this.
