You say this, but for Argument's sake back when Nasomi only had a rolling population of 400-ish players I was leveling Warrior as a sub job. I was fresh out of a Valkurm party, still wearing level 15-ish gear. Put my flag up while poking around town, get a /tell for a Garliage Citadel party. I say 'Sure! ' and start running back and forth to gather gear - still wearing the lowby stuff.

PT leader is in same town. Gives me a /check. I don't think anything of it, and continue about gearing up. When I'm set I realize I havent gotten an invite, so I send a tell to see what's up. "Sorry, your gear's {too weak}.' I've also had people check me while fishing and /slap me for an obvious aesthetic decision, or /check me while in town between farming runs (or just poking around in gear I like the looks of) and /slap or /no me because they don't realize red mages gotta farm too or I just like how Paladin looks wearing Mythril armor with a Nagan slapped on it's back.

Those people hadn't even seen my level/party appropriate gear on any of those occasions. So yes, people most certainly will abuse the tool or make ignorant mistakes, thinking the information they have at hand is enough to render judgment.

Edit: I wonder how many people noped over me between Last Saturday and about Thursday, when I flipped my Nation to Windurst and was running around as a level 50+ rank 1 Dark Knight...

Stupid people exist. It doesn't mean we shouldn't get useful things because stupid people will use them incorrectly.

Wait, isnt that how everything works now?

For people actually complaining about them wearing different gear while fishing or walking around town, are you serious? An obvious solution would be, when you're ready to seek for a party to have your gear on ready to go. That solves everything....

Next when people say to help another player and point them in the right direction to farm for gil. It's simple, they actually always tell me that they don't care about that job or just lvlg for some other purpose. And if they're waiting for another player to have to tell them in this day in age instead of using google or firefox that is pathetic and really shows their resourceful skills. Also showing once again they don't care.

Another great point was multiple same jobs seeking. How are we supposed to know which one to pick up. Based off luck, come on? And is usually always seem to grab the one that doesn't care about their job since there are more of them. Wasting hours to gather up a party and have everyone show up to notice the severely under geared melee/mage is not fun at all.

That's the problem with a huge population. Is sooner or later all these players will kill the reputation. It wasn't this bad when we had 600-800 players on nasomi.

Another positive to this feature would be to spark an incentive for players to start farming more like the way it should be. Even if they end up not knowing how to play their class just the fact that they care enough to farm shows some effort. The party can teach them how to play and i'm sure they would be more than willing to learn since they spent all that time farming. Asking question is 100% fine and no one can ever get mad at that, it's not caring or being lazy is the worst insulting thing to the party.

If you have to farm for your gear, it's probably underwhelming.

So, it's ok for someone like myself, who has spent countless hours fishing and cooking to lvl it and farm/make gil, to get stuck with someone who farms none and refuses to gear himself properly for his job? We aren't asking for elite gear, we are asking for job appropriate gear and a knowledge past 3rd grade reading level when equipping said gear. If that is not what you are looking for in a party member, I think Wolf knows a rdm thats looking for an invite.

I have 100 fishing, spent countless hours farming in just about every zone I can effectly do so in, KSNM/Bcnm/OWNN, camped NASOMI, flipped things on the AH/manipulated markets (typically undercutting/deflation), and done everything endgame this server has to offer to obtain my gear, and carried my fair share of low-effort players. Get off your high horse.

Here's another wild thought, instead of whining and raging over people with trash gear, how about offering to help? Point them in the direction of a good farming spot. Make them grab a KS/Beast seal orb and carry em through an easy win for $ drops. Point them away from the agility gear they want for their Warrior and toward the Strength gear. You know, things that will solve the problem by encouraging someone to up their game, rather than perpetuate it by excluding them and leaving them in the dark.

I agree to an extent, but all too often people take advice as insult and get offended that you offered to help them unsuck their gear. Or they give you the old, its just sj, or "I'm a bard/corsair I get invited anyway". People can do more to help each other out, but more than that ppl need to be able to take some criticism.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. If you lead a horse to water, and it doesn't drink despite obviously dying of dehydration and unable to perform, you can safely take it out back and slip it a lead pill.

However, If you have a thirsty horse, and just assume this one is as retarded as the one someone put down last week thus you don't bother trying to get it water, you are failing the horse and are in the wrong If you put it down.

The point of this game, as I see it, is to double back and lend people a hand to bring them up to your level. Not to kick them because they aren't there yet. Offer a hand, If they take it great! If not? On to the next thing.

The problem is I don't own any horses Aewyn. Sometimes I just want to play a video game. I shouldn't have to teach every person to play everytime I want to party, lol. Sometimes I just want to invite 5 other dudes/gals that like to play FFXI, and go kill some birds.

We all do plenty of helping people shouting in towns, and random posts on here. That doesn't mean I'm not allowed to care when someone shows up to a lvl 55 party with mostly qufim gear.

firstable, fishing gear doesn't work on this server.
So get rekt
Secondable, I have pretty good gear and never once was asked where to farm by an inferior bro that actually cares to properly gear their char.

Thirdable, if the party sucks just leave.
Fourthable, if gear shaming was more prevalent all your good farming spots would be far more watered down and nms would be much more heavily camped, thus spawning another thread about how the ah sucks and everyone undercuts the shit out of you or how farming is hard and the grind is real. Furthermore people will just end up bitching about how hard it is to get a party. Parties will become scarcer and a tiered gear system will emerge where elitism will most definitely exist.

I agree that people should have somewhat current gear to their level, however, I do not feel like this is the remedy to the problem. Try to enjoy playing with some shitters here and there and enjoy being the strongest in your party. Part of the fun of getting good new gear is seeing how it stacks against other gear

I don't need to party with a RDM in STR rings to know my gear stacks up well against them.
