I believe there is a healthy balance between those two realities.

You often talk about what Nas does or does not want to do. Why do you so often feel it is either your responsibility or your obligation to say what Nas thinks or believes? Unless Nas is having you transcribe his feeling for every thread there is no way any person could know this information on a given day? Is Nas so hard stuck in his' ways that no argument could sway him to believe otherwise? If so, what progress can be made in a server where someone is unable to even consider outside ideas? Personally, I do not believe Nas's ideas are contingent on my personal beliefs but I do think that differing viewpoints are healthy for a community. Your continuous need to tell me that my ideas have no merit in Nas's eyes without offering any form of debate is not only unconstructive they are toxic for a growing community. If you wish to help this community offer up arguments against my viewpoints using YOUR beliefs, not someone else's that you cannot be certain about.

Nabutso answers in that way because you're otherwise making forum posts with the only audience being someone who is never going to respond.... Sooo... Nab tries to give some insight on what he knows to be true about Nas,

I don't need to ask him what he thinks of 1 particular circumstance when I've already heard his opinion on it many times before.

Look around and you'll find I'm not the only person who can explain what nas does and doesn't do. I just happen to be the most vocal among them. But others can also guide you in the right direction - almost anyone who has been here for years could talk about it. You're seeing that in this thread right now.


I don't know, but that isn't this server. People talk to nas all the time. Being a troublemaker asshole is a good way to get him to never open up to you, though.


I tell you so that you can not waste your time on suggestions and ideas that have been brought to nas every single day in private for the last 5.5 years. You think what you're suggesting here is groundbreaking or special, and are angry when we, who know better, tell you nas's answer. Debate is fine - but bringing up the same tired points that nas already disagrees with is not a debate. It's ignorance.

Listen to those who have come before you and tried to suggest all of what you already have. They aren't trying to discourage you. We're informing you, and you're just lashing out like we're trying to be mean to you.

I would much rather hear what Nabutso has to think than some hypothetical version of Nasomi. During Nas' QA he responded much differently to some of my past questions than Nab ever responded in proxy.



Nab, I have experience raising a community from the ground to over 100,000 users. Here is a little tip: Certain arguments that may not have made sense 5 years ago may make sense today. These types of things are not static, they change with the population and age of a community.

Who would have thought - nas's speaking style and my writing style are different, and so are nas's speaking style and his writing style. The content, however, is the same.


How recently do you think I've suggested a ticket system to him?

How many minutes do you think it's been?

How many times a day do you think I offer to have him:
1. delete my character
2. allow db access
3. show me his source code

?

Because it's normally more than once a day. I know his answer but I know that one day he'll be overwhelmed and will really need the help. That day isn't today, but the offer is out there.

I'm not the only one who tries that either.

All a thread like this does is put more pressure on nas to do something he doesn't want to do. That is #1 thing he doesn't like. He's even threatened to ban me over trying to push him too hard in public on certain issues.

Meanwhile you've gone out of your way to try to pressure him in threads multiple times publicly - in fact, that's been the majority of every interaction you've had with the community. It's just the worst. And you're doing it again with this thread.

See, now we are getting somewhere. I much prefer hearing your opinion (although obfuscated). I'm not sure but these topics do not in any way hurt to discuss amongst the current community. The fact that YOU a community leader keep shutting them down before they are even considered is hurtful at best.

If you want to continue to pressure nasomi in the worst way possible, to make as little of a change as possible, to make sure that your suggestion absolutely never comes true, continue to make threads and ignore everyone who tries to help you. Good luck!

We aren't getting anywhere.. And you can certainly argue whether or not they hurt (Nab would say they do), but it's really hard to argue they help.

Nab didn't shut anything down. Reality did. He just explained it, again, for like the 30th time.

I do think you're underrating the response that your solution is basically PM'ing Nas on Naschat.
