I agree ... but if you tell the dude running the server that it seems broken, and he says nope.. It's working. I'm supposed to do what? Retire from camping KA? Argue with the dude that can see the code, when I can't? Meh.

I'm not going to call the guy that created it a liar. He said it was working as intended, so it's fair to assume that he intended it to used Player ID. I realize he later decided that isn't what he intended, but it's not like the code wrote itself. If he had said, no that's not what I want it to do.... and told us to stop using it, I'd probably have stopped paying Nataleh to claim KA. Instead, he said that it wasn't doing that and it was working fine. He'd know better than me?

I'm glad he changed it. I was one of the people that was basically never going to ever claim anything ever, because of my player ID.

In a large code base, you can forget that a function iterated through something in a certain order.

That's all that caused the players with high IDs to get claim more often.

Thats why there is search functionality in every IDE and repository. The lack of impact analysis done before tweeking something astounds me sometimes.

1 guy making tons of code changes to a bit code base by himself over 5.5 years.

Sometimes, but rarely, stuff that works breaks or comes out a way unintended.

At least it's not a billion dollar company deleting all of your files every other patch.

Oh yeah, I don’t fault Nas for it. I was just clarifying that it’s a dangerous precedent if you expect players to know when the developer is right or wrong about something to determine exploiting... and why I wasn’t exploiting

No doubt, no one was 'exploiting' the previous system in the way you mean.

There is something I dont understand at all...how is it that if nms pop and "agro" you you end up claiming them?? So what happens
if they dont agro you because your too high level? Does it still work even if hes too low to agro, and also what if they dont agro at all?
Some nms dont agro right? Also if this is the case it means claiming nms is basically pure luck and 0 skill? I thought when I started playing
on nasomi that it was the same claiming thing as retail where there was a random claim delay window after the nm spawns(would make alot more sense).
Im confused lol.

It only apply to some NMs, all of which do aggro.

If you are too high level to be aggro'd, you can still /heal and put yourself into a state that allows them to aggro you regardless of level.

Claiming HNMs (and Spook) as these are the only NMs with this autoclaim system is down to luck, yes.
