3 min LR is pretty far out of 75 era... I remember it from like 2012 or something? Was 30 seconds for all of 75 era, SE wasn't crazy enough in era to give merited 75 DRKs their own version of berzerk which stacks with zerk and has 2.5 Hassos worth of JA Haste tacked on for good measure. LR was mainly used for zergs with DB and popping before WS. DRK is still a good DD, it's just not as dominant as it was here when LR was OP.

Not quite since start of the server but I remember the days of colibri spam, turning down people's offers to use my 50BST as a colibri sync just so I could slowly solo for fun
Losing all my KIs and spells a few times
Lots of weird crashes, people pasting into chat did it a while back iirc
naked BLMs soloing IT mobs, lazy people bringing their two naked BLM alts to 30+ exp pts
less people playing fair
endless LL drama in server ls chat
more janky jobs/job abilities (I still remember spending a fortune in gil and time on my BLU just to having all my melee spells deal garbage ; ;, not to mention PLD/RDM meta since shield was 100% )
NINs having to pay more attention than any job /nin since Ichi could overwrite Ni if you were /nin but not if you were NIN main
plenty more I can't remember

I think things are a lot closer to 75 era now and a lot more polished. I still reflexively try to avoid opening up my KIs' description along with a whole bunch of other things that have been fixed

The December 2013 Christmas event was insane. You'd talk to an Event Moogle and you'd receive all of the following for an insanely long time:

Mighty Strikes
Hundred Fists
Perfect Dodge
Invincible
Manafont
Regain effect (I want to say it was 20 TP/tic, This was back when TP still went to 100 instead of 1000)
Regen effect (Something insane like 50 or 100 HP/tic)
...and possibly more that I can't remember.

The only way you could be hurt was magic or ranged attacks. I remember soloing my WAR to 37 and MNK to 60+ with this buff really quickly. Eventually, Nasomi had to knock the timer down to 15 minutes because Muffin and Exe (Not Exelyon) were duoing everything endgame with the buffs.

The AH at the time was stocked based on a live retail server (Bahamut's AH I believe it was). This meant that if people had the money, they could get items available from content that was otherwise inaccessible (Dragon Harnesses, Cuchilain's Mantles, Fiat Lux drops etc etc.) There were only a handful of people actually able to afford these items so very few of them existed on the server until...

AHpocalypse: Someone found a Nasomi whoopsie. There were Festive Moogles that sold various small items for the holidays. Cookies, crackers, fireworks etc. Someone discovered that one of those items actually NPCed for higher than the buying price. So naturally, they abused it and started buying all the rare items on the AH in a quick fashion. Nasomi was made aware of this and ended up rolling back the server a bit. This ended up costing people their items they just recently bought. The AH was subsequently emptied after that and we were forced to stock it ourselves from there on.

Leveling a craft was not as easy as new people think it was. After the AHpocalypse (and before it really) there really wasn't much in the way of materials. If you needed something, you were forced to go get it yourself for the longest time. Once the population picked up, crafters would be begging people in Grindhouse and Moghouse to go farm stuff. Crafters had tons of money and nothing to really spend it on at that point. We were dying for people to go farm so we could pay them for the stuff. I remember spending hours if not days at a time in Castle Zvhal Keep farming for gold and platinum ingots for Goldsmithing because not many people were willing or able to do it themselves. I shudder to think what it was like for Smiths who needed tons upon tons of Darksteel. Mining wasn't even working at the time. The only way to get the stuff was from Antica, Morion/Phantom Worm and I think the Guild Vendor for super expensive prices.

Really enjoyed reading through this, thanks for providing some insight into how the way things used to be. I just recently joined in November and am stills somewhat struggling with the friend aspect of the game (even though I have two IRL friends who play) as I just haven't found that group of people I can relate to. I was much younger when I played (turning 37 at the end of the month) and instead of talking about beers bars and babes like I did back in the day it's more of mortgages, jobs, kids and wives lol. I'm in a few pretty cool LS's and I know I'll end up finding a few in game buddies, I'm likely here for the long haul. I have not played another game since I installed Nasomi back in November and man I'm so completely hooked that I'm not sure I will. Reading through these pages is a really cool glimpse into the past and makes me super thankful of how great things are currently running.

I'm not as old as people like Epyon-kohai, but I remeber when I joined 3 years ago it was like all the level sync you could ever ask for which was.... goooood??? Poor mnks that nobody wanted to party with would get to 75 in the dunes. Sounds like hell to me.
Edit: Oh and bsts would pet burn to 75 there too, over where everybody does their liz parties now. 5 bsts and some random level 14. You could take a job from 14 to 18 in like 8 seconds.

Nas has done a great job.

Things used to break like every hour.
Exp was so easy to solo / duo didn't even need a pt.
Guild shops were broken, and bought unlimited items at ridiculous gil, like tiger hides for 8k each.
Worms chased you until like a year ago.
Serverwide ls was kinda fun.
Had my name changed to assburger for finding broken things I think.
Dynamis was free for all during testing, which broke lotsa peoples access for a bit.
Tiamat was a semi server even for awhile when it was being tested.
Never seen any high end items for sale, had to farm ur own mats and hunt down a crafter, cause nobody really needed more gil.
Attowah Chasm used to be the best party exp for getting 37 cause garlaige was instant death from basement aggro.
Could just sit in pso'xja 40 cap until 75 np, and 60 cap pso'xja had a bst and pet bat at the bottom of the elevator u could just solo to 75 with, only took 2 hits to kill and got like 180 exp.
Emp bands worked
The community back then was super friendly and super helpful, it was pretty easy to get things done, I think the server had like 80-100 people when I started around.... 5 years ago? I think?, the progress nasomi has made from those days is unbelievable and his dedication to running this server has blown my mind.

Oddin, did you stay in contact with Exe or Muffin? What was the name of the like 16 year old kid who used to play with us back in the day? Also did you ever stay in touch with Kiritoo? I believe we left our accounts with him (and the 100 WW / 60 subcrafts) . First 2 memories I have are Exe / Muffin / that kid taking us through Dynamis Qufim / Valk / Bubu. Also mug'ing Roc.

Sincerely, Boomcats / my brother Kjeldoran

There was also a player who had his name changed to Shortbus and later on shorterbus
