Yeah a static speed run would be interesting. No PL, having to compete/move camps since you can't keep getting a new sync. That would be fun. I would even limit it where an alt can't run you gear so there has to be town trips.

You're saying it took ~264 hours, or 11 calendar days (with rest breaks)? 264 hours doesn't seem THAT crazy fast. Assuming you have people to help you with genkais and ZM missions, that is. 11 calendar days is super impressive though.

Any job with crossbow and Bard unsynced buffs Minuet IV and III will be the fastest BY FAR at 1-12. No need to engage, no need to run into a mob. Just 1-shot everything

Playlog days means in-game time I'm assuming. Can probly even be done in less if you coordinate parties and content on your alt and login on the main only when you already have a 5/6 PT or everyone ready to do the necessary content.

I don't really know how well it translates to our server, but according to Speedrun.com someone leveled from 1-99 in just 16 hours last year during an event. They're also the only person to attempt something like that.

That is the polar opposite of relevancy to people here. Silliness like that is why our server exists and thrives.

One category I'd like to see is fastest Rank 1-6 Completion; basically "Beat Shadow Lord" but from a fresh character, which i'd totally do but you know, 2 character limit, better delete my alt AGAIN just for rules sake. Would be nice to make more characters but shits against the rules :'(

If people wanted to do smaller race categories you could probably do something like beat Rank 2-3 Mission, which I am fairly sure you can solo with the right job (and no outside help)

There are many things you can consider skipping like support job, if starting from a fresh character. Managing Instant Warp Scroll usage and routing optimal paths is useful too. You might want some gil too in order to get some food items/expendable items or even things like gear. From my experience it would be more interesting to limit outside player help, unless of course that's part of your category in which case that's fine too.

From some experience of routing FFXI on retail, you'd probably pick San d'Oria because the Rank Missions are the least time consuming, however they do have some RNG parts like obtaining orcish mail scales or the orcish axe. Windy has a huge tower climb later on to get to star sybil and bastok has elevators to metalworks lol. Big time waste; better to just go for consistent and easy options.

If doing solo Shadow Lord if you could somehow skip the Maat quests and beat him at Lv50 with gear you get from quests (aka speedrunning it like a single player game) that'd be really exciting to see but somehow I don't see it being possible, especially missions like 5-1 which are quite problematic solo, if you're going fast anyway. On retail you get trusts to smash his face; anyway that would impress me to see someone do it in one sitting solo with no outside help.

Other things to consider - what version of the game did you do the run on, since stuff you might use might get fixed/changed and no longer be viable/take longer/work differently so perhaps if you were going to categorise it, have the nasomi version used for the speedrun.

I'd say you could probably watch the retail speedrun and find things that apply to nasomi, since there are runs that clear shadow lord. It's just it'd probably be a lot slower on nasomi, not impossible though, which is why I would love to see someone do it (or i'll do it just let me create more than 2 main characters).

Anyway just random thoughts I've had, of course there are many other things you could do; crafting levels, stuff like clothcraft can be easily solo'd to 60 for example, or how about fastest route to unlock a support job (from fresh char) or unlock a specific advanced job (from fresh char, or fully meritted etc) or even silly things like beat Maat could be interesting (doing it solo with no help, collecting testimony etc or how about what job can get to Maat and defeat him the fastest?)

EDIT: To prevent other players screwing you over you can also use /blockaid but idk if it works on nasomi. Of course these are just discussion points lol people can speedrun the game however they like!

My vote would be for THF on this one. Cuts down on runspeed times, bloody/sleep bolts for utility, and the testimony plus Maat can just be stealing. Compared to some of the jobs where the testimony is 70s mobs that are 2-4 pulls solo.
