People have asked in many different places to anyone who would respond. I wasn't implying that people were or are asking Nas. I have no idea whether that is the case or why that's relevant. My point is that there is no tool in distribution that can do all of what people are proposing here, regardless of whether parsing is allowed.

I'm not sure if we are allowed to name it here, but yes, there is.

That was my thought too. I'm not sure what Kano means, but yeah, there's definitely tools that can easily be added as an addon that would offer meaningful tools to determining things such as macc and any other questions folks have.

Would such tools use retail's understanding of how MAcc/other mechanics work, or could they somehow access how Nasomi implemented MAcc? Because we suspect the two aren't the same thing, being informed of retail-version MAcc could mislead players here into wearing the wrong gear, perhaps.

Ah okay. I'm going to stop engaging this topic.

I believe most would just read the chat log. Since resists are either binary (land vs. resist) or specific percentages (50%, 75%, or 87.5%) depending on the spell, figuring out resist rate doesn't require knowledge of the underlying formulas. You could theoretically do the same by hand, but it would take days of manual transcribing to record a meaningful amount of data.

Well, that sounds fine. I'd use such a tool to take a good look at what I'm doing and find out if another piece of gear would help me more.

I really don't want to get jailed though, so I'd only use one if Nasomi would take the FF14 approach of "use it for yourself if you want but don't harass other players about DPS or we'll slap you".
