So this is something I brought up in the last Q&A stream and someone said it should be posted here and talked about.

So as almost anyone knows, NM's that should drop lumps of gil do not drop the gil they are supposed to do. All NM's drop a pittiful amount of gil, but the big drops like thousands per one. Like CCC (Cargo Crab Colin) should drop 1.2-1.5k gil, and things like Aquarius dropping ~30k gil.

Neither of these drop what they should of course, hell NO nm that drops a lump of gil does. That's not retail accurate at all, and its a shame since I personally liked to kill certain NM's just for the gil drop.

Now next thing being mug. Mug is.... well... garbage. You steal like a literal handful of gil and the ability is pretty much useless. Like, you steal 3-15gil. (I dunno if the +mug effects help but I highly doubt that) Whereas on retail, mobs had a certain set limit on how much you can mug from them. Like, HNM's you can mug like, ~30k gil from as well. Each mug on the targets with a healthy pot also gave you like, 2-4k.

(See I didn't thf, so this is going strictly off memory of seeing things, so forgive me if I'm somewhat mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong and I'll update this)


These are just a few topics I wanna get rolling to talk about, since Nasomi has started he reads these often so I thought I'd toss it out there.

Fun fact:

Mug used to work correctly years ago but was changed by Nasomi himself because people would sit at HNMs (Most of them were always up at the time) and mug them over and over. Doesn't seem like a great way to make money nowadays but back then, it was actually a great way to do it. Just afk and come back every 15 minutes, mug then hide.

Wouldn't this kinda add to inflation? It's not much different than getting all your gil from NPC sales.

It really wouldn't change incoming gil per-player much at this point. We're not in an era where HNM sit up until one of the only 2 endgame shells feel like killing it. So thieves aren't gonna be making 120k/hr mug-farming HNM.

I understand the thought process that on the surface this looks like an easy fix - just add the right gil amounts and you're done.
Unfortunately I think the additional work to regulate the change in economy is not worth it.

I'd rather have almost any other non 100% accurate or working JA in the game prioritized. Quick Draw, Cover, Pup in general, etc.

Source- 75 thf who if you grep'd my chat log over the year you'd find about 100 instances of {Mug} {Just used it.} - I'm rich! Look at all that gil!

It's probably not a simple numbers tweak. Mug only gave a fat reward once in retail iirc, subsequent uses only gave pocket change. If the mobs were giving it out multiple times, then sure - that's a problem and it's better left as-is while more important issues are resolved.
