Cost for the mats on Noble's isn't exactly cheap. It's well over what it was selling for. I'm sure he's trying to correct the market price to reflect this, or he has a lot he wants to offload at a higher price. Either way it's not against the rules, so why do you keep getting salty over people doing this?

Many final products sell for less than the mats used to combine it. In-part because of HQ rates and in part because sometimes that's the best thing to skill up on.

It's a dick move and only hurts newer players. Obviously the supply far outweighed the demand considering how low the price had been for such a long time. But now the 2 or 3 new white mages who actually make it into the 60s are punished because of this persons greed.

I swear someone must be doing a case study on unchecked capitalism.

I mean yeah that's how capitalism is SUPPOSED to work.

Honestly people will take advantage of literally anything. I was trying to sell Prism Powders for cheap a while back because they're something people actually need. They vendor for 4200 a stack, I was listing them for about 3800 because that was break-even for me and people would use them.

But someone came through and just bought all of them to vendor. Doing "good" doesn't have a place in capitalism unfortunately.

Looking at the actual combine, shining cloth is the only expensive component and it only has one use. Making nobles tunic. The same person also bought it up raising the price. So this is really more a case of one person creating artificial scarcity rather than correcting the market. Absolutely scumbag worthy. The type of stuff RMT pulled on retail.

I know a couple WHMs who now can't get nobles tunics (tried 180k) because this person (apparently deadwing?) took it upon themselves to monopolize the market. There are certainly a lot more shining clothes entering the game then there are new people leveling whm. All he's done is make it harder for an already unpopular job to gear itself up.

It's selfish.

Which is not beneficial for the server.

Selfish is not breaking the rule. However, this server needs more player to grow. Any new players seeing this sort of selfish behavior will be turned away. Even the retiree like myself do not want to see Nasomi turns into that sort of place with monopoly bull crap.

It's not my call and I can only beg Nas to deal with this once and for all. This does not create an encouraging and fun playing environment.

i can see why some things are disconcerting to a player who wants/needs a specific item in question, but asking the server owner to punish anyone who tries to make too much money is selfish and immature.

This game is not built on selling items to NPCs as a primary source of cash. It's built on selling to other players to make Gil. Some people are going to get creative in those efforts - everyone can't just sell infinite numbers of wind crystals and beehive chips.

Everyone finds their niche - be it a profession, an NM, or something that funds their hard work. Don't get angry at someone else's income - the next time someone demands the Wrath of Nasomi, they could be pointing at you.

" Actions that excessively deprive others of the ability to experience various gameplay features." http://nasomi.com/rules.php

This is a stretch, I'll admit. But when one player suppresses supply on an item that doesn't have a ton of demand, but is a high priority item for the job that can use it, they're depriving (or at least creating an excessive barrier) to them experiencing that gameplay. However, I know for the most part Nasomi doesn't concern himself with that and I'm not asking him to enforce any kind of ruling on that.

In the mean time, I'll exercise my right to call out behavior I believe is detrimental to the server so discussion can happen.

Edit:
To Mr. Wiggin. I just want to point out, if people didn't sell to NPCs there wouldn't be gil to get from other players. There's not really that much gil generated by quests alone. So somebody has to be generating the gil directly from monsters for the economy to work at all.
