every time I try to login now I get stuck at the black screen with "downloading data" in the bottom righthand corner. wondering if maybe the zone is down or if this is a problem specific to me?

Eventually it yields the error code "FFXI-3001" -- no response, connection timed out.

Can you try a different internet connection? Does this happen to all zones or just La Thiene?

tried connecting to my other wireless network, same thing, suck on downloading data black screen.

i was in la thiene earlier today and it was fine, and i was just in the dunes as well which worked fine. but now i cant seem to get past the downloading data screen at all, so dont really have the ability to test other zones unless i make a new character.

Can you try restarting your network adapter?

i restarted my entire network from the modem and that seemed to do the trick.

very odd -- glad it worked but any particular reason this might have occured in the first place?
