"Common knowledge" shouldn't have been the term used but he means older players who were around during this time knew/know about it. Those they've shared the info with also know but have no way of confirming. I literally found out about 2-3 months ago because Dimemetri mentioned it when talking about getting a KC.

I brought up the BCNM because that was the context in which Octave Club was mentioned by Nasomi. The reason I'm talking in "afaik" is because I haven't gone out and tested any of this stuff. I have my Kraken Club so I don't need to go spam all my seals on Up In Arms. I don't need to worry about what LoO does or doesn't drop. This literally has no bearing on me whatsoever.

You're right. Nabutso opens himself up for this shit but it's not like any person couldn't ask a Fid/Aperture/Cokey about Octave Club/LoO. I remember doing the same about items when I first started, to those very same people.

Attacking him for camping LoO is meh at best when I watched many others do the same shit for a few weeks before giving up.

Edit: For changing items that are in the game, SE made Octave different than Kraken because the RMT/bot issue that was happening at LoO. Anybody that I played retail always wished the Octave was a Rare/Ex Kraken, I still don't get the opposition. Except that because the BCNM drops the Rare/Ex, if you want to sell one you have to actually camp it.

I’m not attacking Nab for camping LoO. I don’t give a shit. I’m saying Nas is a moron and Nab is hypocritical by saying this change from era is okay. Forgive me if I don’t report the next change I hear about, and just assume it’s also intentional.... solely because it’s ACTUALLY well known in the end game community.

Like I’ve said before, Nas expecting the community to guess at which changes are expected and which are bugs is unfair. It’s even less fair when he randomly decides to change existing items functionality on purpose and not tell anyone about it, or make that known.

Most of the time something fairly obvious comes to light and Nab’s general response is, “Nas had no idea”. This time, I’m assuming he does and it was on purpose? Meh. That’s dumb.

also: That’s not true. SE made plenty of versions of rare/ex items and put them on mobs to combat RMT. I had an octave club and a K Club. It was a gimmick. It had an intended mechanic that is different than k club on purpose. If SE wanted to combat rmt and botting they would have made a r/e version like they did with the other items. They didn’t, it was a conscious choice. What everyone “wanted” is meaningless.

I wholeheartedly disagree, RMT were selling king ABJs for 20-50M per piece on several servers when this change was made. They would have sold the Rare/Ex to people in the zone and profited still.

That is certainly your right.

That doesn’t change that you’re assuming something was never stated and is directly conflicting with the changes they actually did make to try and combat RMT.

An octave club isn’t a r/e kclub. Just make a new item if you want one, instead of relying on Nab to lie about who knows about it to justify its existence and it’s merit.

(Selling king abjs from a mob you’re already camping/know is going to pop in a 3 hour window is significantly easier than having buyers ready at the kclub price who can be standing/already in a zone for weeks on end)

Much harder to code a new item from scratch than change the stats of an existing one. Especially with things like hits 2-8 times. With Nasomi being primarily solo, I know which I'd rather have him to do.

Meh, it's not hard to make a list of interested buyers, send a tell once the NM pops and have them get to zone. I made my fortune doing this with Joyeuse on retail.

Either way: my only, and final, point is... precedent matters. And this one’s a doozy, and I hope Nab remembers that next time he asks someone why no one has told Nas about something and they respond with “it’s fairly common knowledge among the end game community afaik.” That’s all. I don’t really care about the club... I think it’s short sighted and lazy to take an existing items hidden effect and drastically change it because you want to... but whatever it’s his server. Just remember this post existed in a few weeks, that’s all.
