Thanks for answering! Well, that's fair, although I think the community is not being nice to mages/tanks with these things, but I guess classic MMOs just weren't balanced with this "just fill the roles and it will go well" mentality.



You mean merit parties? Yeah, less desirable jobs are going to seek for longer or need to party with their LS. If I'm going to spend two hours doing something with people I don't know, I'm not going to knowingly make it less efficient for the benefit of a stranger.


My DD PLD is thrilled for those meripo spots

I feel this is a very good point by Therin.

As I understand it from the live-stream, Nasomi was worried his Melee TP correction would overly favour RNG and make it OP so added the optimal range mechanic as a solution (forcing you out of range of Melee). I don't think he thought through the impact on endgame or any content outside of XP party.

Amending the formula so you do less damage close by but don't suffer an accuracy penalty (particularly on WS) feels like a Nasomi compromise that might come down the line.

How did nin tanking get nerfed? I've hung mine up in the moghouse pretty much permanently since trying rdm and learning it is the king tank of most mobs in this game but I wasn't aware of a nerf. Just curious.

Did AoE moves used to just take a shadow? I forgot if that was a problem here or if I'm remembering that incorrectly?

Either way, NIN/DRK and NIN/RDM still works to tank a lot of things... They just aren't as effective as a few other jobs for most content.

If that was a thing on this server, it was before I was here. And yea nin can fill the role of secondary tank fine. Hell on tiamat, it has by far the best fire resist capabilities having access to suzy feet. Plds used to let me take it for the entirety of the air phase cause you just get hit for 6's with no stoneskin on. The big issue is when the shit hits the fan, you're kinda just standing there hoping someone is going to save you. Rdm is god.

RDM is king of CE. Bind, Sleep, Dispel, etc. generate a reasonably large amount of CE which can be enhanced by some +enmity gear and merits, and the fact that they can be spammed more rapidly than a single Flash from a PLD or Stun from a NIN/DRK.

IDK about you guys but last time I used bind on fafnir as nin/drk it made the mob spin to face target directly when it landed, resulting in taking full breath dmg. That's since the change to mob behavior while bound/grav. Quit the job since
