I haven't leveled SMN so I can't speak to its capabilities as they are now, but sometimes things being used less is not because it's objectively bad, but comparatively bad. Summoner also seems a little harder to quantify versus other classes because of how it's utility and damage work. How do you know the "DPS" a SMN is bringing in when it casts Hastega and Rolling Thunder.

If SMN hadn't been overpowered to begin with, Summoners probably wouldn't feel under-powered now, they'd just feel..normal.

Not saying that is the case here, like I said, I've never played summoner pre- or post- nerf. I do remember joining the server though and hearing about how ridiculously strong SMNs were, compounded by the fact they could take that power to ToAU zones when no one else could other than BSTs.

i don't know, i feel like way back when the concept of "controlled DPS" was a thing, either that or enmity just worked differently than it does on here, or maybe i'm just remembering a lot of things wrong

i knew people who played ranger in retail era who were post-yalm nerf, i don't really remember there being as big of a problem among actual players, but back then i don't think the "dps > all" max efficiency meta was in effect for the general population like it is now for every MMO. it was also a lot rarer for someone to have an annihilator and kclub and all those other things because of the way dynamis worked, not everyone dual-boxed, etc. etc. despite the fact that a majority of players on Nasomi from back then probably lurked or posted on BG, the general population didn't.

i was mostly for the patch just because of historical accuracy, but if it's really upsetting enough maybe there's a reason to roll it back until a general consensus can be reached as to what is okay as far as potential yalm implementation goes. maybe there's something wrong with how enmity is calculated or dealt with in general that needs to be looked at before something like this comes around?

No, there's no such thing as a meaningful discussion on the forums, hence the actual irony of not contributing. We don't get votes in how the server is ran or developed. Nas does what he wants. Aw man I got to use this in the leveling process but was nerfed shortly after so sadly not with my apoc. Those 30 seconds of Last resort are the absolute tits. I can't even imagine getting to be that fast nearly 3/4 of the time.
