I'm just going to step back into this god forsaken thread to add one more thing:

While I appreciate the fact that Nas owns and operates this server and provides us this service totally free and does a decent job of it most of the time doesn't mean that he doesn't make bad decisions about how it's run. The decision to "fix" sneak/invis and the decision to makes these adjustments to RNG are just bad decisions.

We don't have to sit here and just accept it, we're allowed to complain and expect a certain level of our input to be heard because yeah we do play here.

Well I guess it would be nice if the duration was based on something like, oh I don't know, enhancing skill or MND, but at the moment seems totally random and if that's the way it was in retail then it needed to be fixed.

Shit man, if we're striving for era accuracy remove level sync. But, oh wait, XI always needed that, etc etc.

I've been pro level sync removal this whole time. It would force people to take in jobs that are otherwise undesirable and increase leveling camp diversity. Still don't have enough people playing to support it though. Would be interesting to see what lowering the max sync range to 5 would do.

Love the idea of sitting around for hours waiting on a party. Pretty convinced by this that you're just here making bad faith arguments for the sake of arguing.

The point is cherry-picking changes, some of them wholly unnecessary, to make the game more "retail accurate" back to the '05 era. It's not like the game didn't have issues back then. Making it " '05 era retail accurate" doesn't make it a better or more challenging experience, it just makes it frustrating. Nostalgia is really getting in the way here.

Like I said, it wouldn't work with the current population. I was just bringing up the point that level sync has negative consequences. Recently going from 60 to 70, I was in one of two camps doing a melee tp burn in every pt. That wouldn't have been possible without level sync. Whether that's a good or bad thing is a matter of opinion.

Level Sync in its original form looked absolutely terrible (I quit before its implementation) but level sync as we have it is pretty much the best of both worlds, although the population is very high there are still often gaps in level ranges which are easily filled via level sync without being so crazy as leveling an entire job in the dunes.

Sure you end up staying in certain areas longer than normal, but players still are still required to branch out and explore the world for different exp camps while keeping things flexible and accessible for players. A 10 level sync gap seems a happy medium, maybe it could even be reduced to let's say 5 if the population is much larger but for now it's one of the good quality of life differences this server has.

Ok, but we're not talking about level sync here. I'm pointing it out as an example of an out-of-era change that has been implemented because the condition of the game calls for it in order to be playable; something with which you agree. Let's not move goal posts and speculate what should be done to level sync in anticipation of a 5,000 player online presence.

Let's be specific about Sneak/Invis - Even if it were totally random in '05 retail era, that's not how it should have been. It should be given to cast a reliable duration based on level, based on enhancing magic skill, based on mind, etc. My experience so far is that it's totally random. It's been my experience so far that I'm getting less than 1 minute casts off of level 60+ RDMs. I'm sorry, that's not acceptable. A degree of randomness and a degree of nerf does not bother me and I'm sure it wouldn't bother anyone else, but it needs a degree of reliability to balance it.

This change doesn't make the game more challenging, it doesn't enhance the experience in any way, shape or form, it just makes it more frustrating.

People who are already in the endgame, telling folks to stop whining or dropping references to New England Patriots coaches is particularly grating.

This is the man who gave Jorm a huge HP buff to make it "more challenging". Your view of a challenge and Nasomi's probably vary wildly.

I'm sure the Bill Belichick reference was in relation to complaining even if you've been on the server for a good length of time. Also that point was made by someone in strict opposition to the OP of this thread. Try again.
