I've done this a number of times and therin is on point with his advice. If you have a depletable resource required for your damage, rest while the others take the last eye down to 30/40% then go ham.

If you are a nin, /blm or /rdm and stack all the int you can get. You don't need a Solon torque but pick up rings at least and eat a parfait.

You're asking why it spams Catharsis, but what you should be asking is why this doesn't drop an Amulet for me ever in like 20 runs.

And to be fair it was past 70 at that point (I stopped counting at 70)

way back shortly after i started i did run into the dreaded catharsis spam, the NMs falling through the floor, and all sorts of other bullshit

despite that i think we only failed like 2-3 runs and that was mostly due to me being a retarded at the start and not remembering how to play the game

this was 2BST 1RDM which is probably not the ideal setup now or 6 months ago, but my point is that it does happen. smash axe was good for this. so was last minute RDM nukes. sic was great as well with tigers. if for some reason nasomi decided i had to get my PCA all over again i would probably do 2SMN 1RDM and cycle heavy blood pacts like ifrit once he gets into the catharsis range. SMN/WHM SMN/WHM RDM/BLM for one heavy eseal near the end may be cool too.

also editing to say i think we both saw around 1/12 runs drop a PCA. i cannot recall the moon phases or if we faced west on firesday when trading the orb though

1/60 & 1/70?!

if this is the case, nasomi DEFINITELY stealth nerfed PCA. Year(s) back, I ran this maybe 12 times in total with friends. We walked away with 4-5 PCAs. I really want to say in no more than 10 runs, but yeah.

Those numbers don't happen today, unless you're lucky like Robshig.
