Who the fuck is Layowen
A guy in jail for trading leaping boots to a friend apparently
Did he trade boots or gil? It seems that the rumor is starting

Side note: I am sure that RMT also join/create LSs, wait a while and pretend to "give" gil and items to "friends" in the same fake LS.
AI know someone was was insta-banned for giving away high level crafting items for free claiming that people would pay them back in installments. I'm sure Nas can check the logs but Nas doesn't have the time to check on each person to make sure that the "installments" were paid. This being said, RMT can easily trade high level items and create a fake chat log about borrowing or repayment amongst "friends". If Nas seems a pattern emerging then I'm sure he'll insta-ban and won't think twice. I'm sure Nas has heard it all so my point is why risk it?
With every high level trade, there is a short or long term risk of ban so why do it?
For example, if my character was banned for 5 business days: Sure a lowbie "LS mate" gets boots or 250k so they don't have to farm (i.e. lazy / defeats the entire purpose of the Nas grind / FFXI 2005 era, etc.) however my main char loses 5 business days of farming time. At 1 million a day, that's 5 million in loss. Math does not add up. So basically I can loose millions, possibly even my character, so that someone else doesn't have to grind?
Jeeeez, 1M per day... clearly, I need to learn to farm better and stop dallying with AH arbitrage and my once a month 2 hours of mining routine, lol.
