lv 96 fisherman here i took a long break from the game and came back to people using rogue rigs in qfim for the purpose of catching multiple fish and claiming to get more gil per hour than soles.

I have heard people say minnow is 40-50k/hour while the rogue rig is closer towards 50-60k per hour.

what I hate about the rogue setup is 2 things:

1. the amount of BS fish you catch that dont sell for shit
2. the amount of times you have to warp back to town

I want to get peoples opinions on this. Do yall think the running back to town every 30 mins cancels out the lesser gil per hour from targeting soles?

let me know your thoughts

Do the NPC as stated above with the rouge rig. While you are out fishing go naked except rod/bait/warp and fill up. Toss globes, herring, cod, shields and you're set. I would say the benefit of the rouge rig is the bite rate. You are going to get a bit way more often with the rouge rig and that's the difference right there.

yeah, there's a fair amount of luck involved on the gil/hr you'll get but at a minimum it's generally at least better than going for sole+swords with a sinking minnow. I've pulled up 12 swords in an hour with a rig only to get none the next.. If you're like me, you'll get a whole pile of bluetail, a few sole, and a good number of gigant squid and three-eyed fish. NPC 'em all, or maybe find someone doing cooking or alchemy and make a deal for the squid.

If Qufim starts to get old and you have a lu/ebisu, you can always go roll the dice down in Quicksand Caves at the Knightwell. The only fish that you can pull up with a rig are Crayfish and Cave Cherax, which NPC for 1600/ea. Their base bite-rate is around 10-15% on average but you'll get lots of doubles. I've done around 100k-ish/hr there on a few stints, though it's sometimes closer to like 50-60k-ish. The ants down there CAN pop at aggro-level to 75 (one PLD and one BLM), so go on a job that can easily kill them and hope they repop low enough to avoid aggro. It's pretty boring down there and you'll get a lot of missed casts due to low biterate, but the earning potential is decent. They don't stack, so go mostly-nekkid.

Have you tried kuftal for the simultaneous angel skin farm? Although I've read the drop rate on nas is significantly lower than retail.

The angel skin drops off the fished up mob Devil Manta, and from what I’ve seen the monster pop rate is actually lower (if only very marginally, unless you factor in the time to reel them in in which case the casts/hour is lower regardless) if you’re able to catch fish, hence why so many people just use a Fly Lure down there.

Personally I use a Shrimp Lure and go for Cherax when I’m down there so I can at least get some kind of consolation prize
