It seems like if you are about to fish up an item (like in my case rusty leggings), if you just wait it out until you lose it, you can no longer do anything with your character. You can't fish, you can't move logout, nothing. If you do the same thing for monsters, it's fine. You'll lose your catch and continue fishing, but for the items you can't do it.

Best bet is to just fish up everything that you catch, and just let monster catches go.

Don't AFK fish, as it will cause you to need to force close the client to be able to do anything again. It's a bug. Oh, and also if you cancel fishing, you lose the lure/bait.
