I didn't know the commission stopped. That's slightly better. But if the owner of the bank is not reaching out to people who have payouts that old, that's indicative of my original issue. At some point, the gil just goes to the owner of it, and they know that. So there's no motivation for them to reach out to people. Bank characters are also going to constantly flag as possible rmt. How could they not? They're dealing with so many people trading in and out so many items and gil each day it's just always going to smell like that. It's never going to be a good idea in the long run. There will be salt at some point.

Managing the bank is already a lot of additional work. There's selling all of the items, managing them, co-ordinating holding of rare items, getting those picked up, managing pickups from people at all sorts of random hours, etc. I don't think not being proactive about getting people to come pick up their money means the person running the LS bank is hoping to get it at the end of the day. FWIW, I'd argue a 5% commission is more than reasonable for the amount of work being done.

There are definitely downsides to LS banks, for sure. No one is arguing that they're perfect.

But the idea of having to try and individually keep track of drops and splitting them sounds like an absolute nightmare. You've got individuals having to manage that stuff, almost certainly without as co-ordinated and well tracked of a system. More items are going to get lost, get shuffled around, get forgotten when people quit the game, etc. You'll have people competing with each other within the linkshell to sell shit and undercutting each other. You end up with people with a variety of skill levels in bartering and deal making trying to offload the goods, which means the prices drop even farther.

Yeah, there's risk the bank character ends up in Mordion or gets hacked or whatever. For the former, well, just gotta rely on Nas to review it. For the latter, we could really use some two factor authentication up in here. For the rest, I trust the people running the bank in RFK more than enough to abate any worries I have about that stuff.

Sure - Except for a while, I assumed it was being held by a character that no longer played. I tried asking Locke to get on a few times (Hell.. I'd still buy the River Gaiters that it says I'm on for), and we never got a time worked out ... and then I started an LS and got busy. Meh.

Like I said, my logic for disliking LS banks isn't really related to RFK. You guys do a horrible idea well, and that's all I could hope for. It's a non-value added proposition with a very real risk of a negative value add. That's all.

I gotta figure out who the RFK bank is now though.

Farside holds most of RFK's bank on Captainobvious. The old gil that Zerabrit managed is on Farside's alt, Alltheheals. I already described two advantages of RFK's sales system: inventory concealment and prevention of LS undercutting. So far, I don't see the issues being raised here as serious. Both strategies have leveraged higher sell prices on the items that we sold and contributed to that mil you're owed, Wolff. The fact that you don't appreciate those strategies doesn't negate the fact that they have appreciated the objective gil value of your OWNM drops.

If you want to talk about real LS bank problems, we can discuss why Zera doesn't play the game anymore, where Alltheheals is, and Farside's efforts to reach out to Nasomi to get his alt back. This nonsense about the bank getting to play with inactive players' gil strikes me as wildly out of touch with RFK's culture and how its members relate to their bank. Is this a real concern borne out of RFK's actual practice, or is all of this fed from anxieties from another linkshell? I'm genuinely curious because if an inactive member returns and finds his or her LS bank funds overdrawn, I will quit RFK in a heartbeat.

And lastly, pick up your own money. Zera used to bug people to pick up their money, but then Locke took over, stopped taking sales commissions, and stopped bugging people. /sigh
