This happens too much, maybe people don't know, I'm going to go with people simply not knowing. When you level sync, you MUST use a weapon at or below the sync level, or else the weapon damage of your weapon is totally nerfed and your DD sucks, gimping yourself and your party's xp.

Furthermore, when leveling ninja and thf low levels, use a sword mainhand. Fast Blade is a better weapon skill than katanas or daggers for a long time. You will do more damage, keep hate better, and get faster xp.

Simple things to make your performance so much better ^_^

You should be using Blade Retsu to proc paralysis as much as possible. Sword damage is just as much ass as Katana, and Katana typically have lower delay which amplifies Dual Wield. The only exception is maybe the brief window Centurion Swords are good.

Also, Thief should be using H2H until Viper Bite. Combo is practically the best weaponskill until Raging Fists. The only other thing remotely competitive is Greataxe due to its early weaponskills amplifying party Accuracy and Damage, and that is up for debate.

WS damage lone from h2h WS with SA is more than fastblade + auto damage with sword.

We are talking a generous 20 point difference maybe, but I digress Paralysis on the mob is much more useful to the blink tank than a negligible amount of damage.

h2h vs sword isn't even debatable. 200-250 SA+Boost Combos are vastly superior to the first four sword weaponskills. Nevermind the inherent delay reduction from Martial Arts or yknow having a second attack every round before level 20.

Retsu paralysis is pretty potent, but the duration of a rdm paralyze spell is a bit longer lasting. It's kind of rough solo tanking on nin before 37, I'd recommend 2 *tanks*, but once you have ni retsu becomes much more valuable to save precious seconds that will allow utsu cd's. Until 37 I would argue fast blade is more useful. It has great skillchain synergy which helps alot in a 2x tank pt, using nin/war's or war/nin's, moreso if the offtank is war/nin. Just using provoke isn't enough to pull it off a beefy war that's just landed a heavy sturmwind. That extra fast blade damage really helps there. After 37 tho nin really should be working their own slow/para/blind retsu para being ideal, up until 60, then nin gets blade: Jin which is far superior to the party than using retsu for paralyze (unless you're a taru, then you can start blasting mobs with Blade: Chi at.... 53? I think.).

If your using a PL though, disregard all of that grab a brd or cor or both and gearup for the fastest dps u can, and just plow through things.

I leveled my thf and invited other thfs to pty and I always used swords while they do h2h and my ws and autos always did more damage. I intentionally did this because I wanted to see if I should switch. But the only race that out DPS my sword, and it was very close, was an elvaan (I'm a taru) so honestly, I swear by sword.
