What a 4th of July I had! Big family cookout, lots of beer and the fireworks, my god the fireworks. A time well spent with family and friends to cap off an excellent day. However, that all changed this morning when my alarm awoke me from my slumber. I reach for my phone to turn the alarm off and I notice I had an email from someone I've never heard of. Nothing unusual but then I checked the headline of the email. "Oddin account" it read. I thought it was just some spam email from some stupid website as I use the moniker "Oddin" in some variation or another for most of my online needs. I proceeded to open the email and read its contents and was flabbergasted at what was said.

"Hey Oddin,

I am the buyer of your account. I was trying to change so that corvina would be my alt and change river to mule.

Now the account is locked pending your activation...

I'm sorry to inconvenience you, but would you be willing to click the activation so that i can do the changes and change back the email?

On another note, do you have any other legacy accounts or another lvl 75 account leveled i would maybe be willing to buy that also. If you have any friends that has stopped playing and want to get rid of the accounts im interested in that also.

A RDM or WHM for powerleveling is the main priority.

I hopped on Nasomi.com and tried to log into my forum account only to find I was unable. The password had been changed. I then went to the auction house section and checked to see if I could find any activity going on with my accounts. Sure enough, all three of my main accounts (Oddin, River and Corvina) had recent AH transactions. I have not played FFXI in at least 5 or 6 months now so there should be 0 activity on my accounts.

Sadly, I just don't have the time to play this game any more. With my new job and constantly working to hopefully go back to school and further my education, I can't spend the countless hours I used to on the server any more. I also will not stand by and watch as someone tries to profit off my hard work and dragging my name through the dirt. I've already contacted Nasomi about this issue and am awaiting to hear from him about it.

Frankly, I don't have the time nor the interest right now to keep a close enough eye on my accounts any more. My hope is to get the accounts back so I can just shut them down myself and maybe give away my stuff to the people that were close to me beforehand. At the very least, I'd like to have the accounts all jailed so no one can use them and try to profit off them again. Either way, today marks an end of an era for me. I hope to see you guys one more time in game but if not, well, it's been fun.

Pretty sure I ran into this dude a couple of weeks ago, emote'd and sent a /tell but received no response, chalked it up to you being your usual grumpy self. Sucks that one of the oldest accounts on Nasomi got hacked and lost this way.

Yeah he has been semi active on the AH but I had heard you were away. When I returned I saw you online once and I waved and sent a tell but got no response so I figured you were afk. That sucks man... Hope all is going well for you outside Nasomi.

Anyone with any ideas how this keeps happening? *If* people are being responsible with their data, there's a grim hint that data is being compromised somewhere else. I only have assumptions, so I won't mention them, but sucks we lost Oddin, I remember him from back in the day. I didn't do much with him, but yeh that guy was one of the oldest hardcore veterans. RIP

the not playing in 6 months thing makes it sound like just normal RMT.

i.e, "well, i'm not using it any more, could always do with a bit more cash as i don't plan on going back..."

i played OSRS for a few years, one thing i've picked up from that subreddit is people are sneaky as fuck when they're trying to get x back or trying to get unbanned.

i hope i'm wrong and i hope if i am he just jails your characters as you asked for them to be though. best of luck either way mate!

I never crossed with Oddin much, but this could practically be considered copypasta for retail RMT.
