I don't know that there's any evidence that this is actually true. All the data I have suggests they are similar drop rates.
Unless there's some random 60 OWNM that we've never killed consistently with a significantly different drop rate, anyway. Which might be possible - a lot of them suck and we don't do.
Well, you agree that in general, for every 100 Lynx Leather that get purchased, likely 98 to 99 Smilo get purchased right? I don't have drop rate evidence, but I did a ton of OWNM's when I was active in RFK and at that time there were seemingly always a surplus of Smilo when compared to Lynx. I thought we were just doing more OWNM that dropped Smilo than we were that dropped Lynx based on the other items in the loot pools. So maybe it wasn't as much a difference in drop rate as it was a difference in volume of kills.
Small sample size but:

This actually seems to be worse then I remember when i was active with OWNM's. And ppl who have 1M for 60-65 certainly have another 100k for 65-70. AFAIK the leathers aren't being used in any crafts that would affect supply.
Some people don't expand their inventory all the way that they can afford to, though - even if it's relatively cheaper. We've had a not-insignificant number of lynx sales where we've asked if people wanted to buy a smilo too as part of a combo and gotten told no. With the price drop and people not being willing to pay for the smilo, I know some have just been given away as an add-in just because. But even if only 98 or 99 smilo get purchased for each 100 lynx, that's accounts for the majority of the difference in your screenshots. 100k is enough people will keep shit up on the AH for forever and keep relisting it, so you end up with them being held onto indefinitely.
My data isn't necessarily complete - I don't make it to every OWNM we do, and if I look historically, we've had more smilo on the spreadsheet than lynx. And I didn't note down anything for most of my time doing OWNMs - it's more recent I've been paying attention there. Nor have I tried to keep track of how TH affects it. Wish I had tried to keep better track - easily done over a thousand at this point, and I'd love to have kept better tabs on the data.
Anyway, if lynx dropped to 500-600k, I bet we'd see smilos increase to 300-400k or so over time. More people can afford to break purchases up like that.
I can confirm I'd always have a higher excess of Smilos than Lynx at anyone time, but I honestly think its simply because people buy the lynx and don't want to splurge for the smilo, no matter how cheap. This scenario has just made the difference larger and larger as more and more people just buy lynx without buying smilos.
