Shout isn't the only way to spam, though. If you killed shout pre-10 and it was too burdensome to level to 10, what's stopping them from just patrolling between AH, homepoint crystals, and MH exit and using /say instead? We might have to nuke that too.

There's a portion of WoW private servers who do not allow you to use anything but whispers/Guild chat until level 15. If that's the path we have to go(no chat except /tells, /party, and /linkshell until Lv.10-15), it'll be a minor annoyance to newer players. I do think the pros outweigh the cons, people making money off Nasomi is one of the fastest way for him to get a C&D from SE.

I can't see a downside to this honestly, level 20- ish is about the earliest /sh is going to do much good, for that nation 2-3 fight.

Could even make it a 1 shout a day limit.

That way you don't hurt the few genuine times a /sh is needed and you also inconvenience the RMT to have to keep making new characters.

once-a-day is a cool idea, but given the way nasomi set up each zone as a separate server, it will probably be more like once-a-day-per-zone (or else it will be an encore to the /yell fiasco from last year). combine that with a minimum level (lv18 for the peeps doing the subjob quest) and i think we've got a winner.

I agree 100%, just wanted to point it out incase the idea was taken seriously that there would need to be extra channels to block. Anything to prevent the potential for a C&D is good.

Challenge: Eliminate gil sellers from /shouting in cities

Reason: It's annoying

Possible Solution #1
Only player's that are level 10 can use the /shout function.

Pros: Takes longer for gil seller accounts to be able to use the /shout function possibly slowing down the /shouts
Gil sellers might give up but probably not

Cons: New players can no longer ask for assistance via /shout when leveling up from 1-10
New players might quit after a few levels because they are alone during a crucial part of their FFXI experience.

Possible solution #2
Add Gil sellers to your blacklist

Pros: Immediate removal of gil seller /shouts
Does not impede the progress or experience of newly created characters

Cons: Gil sellers just make new accounts causing you to have to constantly add new people to your blacklist

Possible Solution #3

Accept the fact that gil sellers are going to exist as they do in every MMO

Pros: You no longer worry about gil seller shouts
This thread dies
Cons: Gil sellers still /shout

Let's break this down point by point.

Really, what are you shouting at levels 1-10 for besides gil/items/random help that can be sent through tell? Give me something that will actually have a negative impact(not a minor inconvenience) on newer players and I may change my stance.

Except Blacklist doesn't work properly here. I've added people to my blist, log off/on and they're no longer there. Same with zoning.

And Square decides to send a C&D to Nasomi because people have monetized their IP. We lose everything and have to go find another game to play.

I'd rather Nasomi take steps to curb people monetizing the server in a trackable way than say "Oh RMT are in every MMO, they'll be here too, get over it."

Edit: The reason I want to remove the gilseller shouts is so the server doesn't get shut down, not because "they're annoying".

Edit 2: Your post reads like someone who has either A. Bought gil, or B. Sold gil.
