Hi, all! I'm Jeziah, a new player to both FFXI and Nasomi.

First and foremost, if this this should've been posted elsewhere, I apologize and would like the thread to be deleted/removed. Sorry for any trouble in advance!

Secondly, I'd like to point out that I did perform searches before asking what I'm about to ask.

And thridly... well, here are my questions. I currently have a lvl 7 Elvaan Warrior (San d'Oria), and, you see, I'd like some help with dual boxing; because of my erractic work schedule and time zone (South America, UTC -2), I'm guessing it will be hard to party reliably. So I'd like to learn how to dual box. I mean, I know you just have to open two instances of the Ashita client, but is there guide to specific functions or optimizations? I've read about some script-like macros, but I have little to no idea about how those work. Also, which class would best work as a duo for an Elvaan Warrior?

While I'm at it, I'm using these threads as a basis to making money, but if you guys have any specific advice, I'd be glad to hear 'em:

I'm also all ears for any advice that does not concern my aforementioned subjects. Thanks!

Dual boxing is interesting, and takes practice. RDM is handy to keep you healed, enfeeble, or solo the odd aggro. At level 41 you can add refresh to your dualbox. Mithra, and Hume are my favorite RDM. Decent stats, and more HP than a TaruTaru.

Handy Macros on your dual box:
/follow main_char
/ma "spell" main_char_name
/ma "spell" party_member_name
/ma "spell" <bt> - This will cast on the closest party claimed enemy. BE CAREFUL if 2 mobs are claimed. You could hit the sleeping one.

You cannot use monster names, but player names work.

For gil find some of the repeatable missions, or farm items that drop often, or sell for a decent amount. If farming you should try to have treasure hunter active (THF15)

RDM is a very strong duo partner. You'll get heals and perfectly acceptable damage for duoing.

I would recommend going one of two routes though:

Level Monk and White mage as a duo until level 20. Unlock your subjob and make the trek to Jeuno (you can get sneak for the white mage which makes running to jeuno fairly easy if you go the Konst->Pashow->Rolan route since most of the agro mobs detect by sound) so you can get your chocobo unlocked. Then head back to sandy and level up Thief + Blm (with whm sub) until 15-20. Then finally you can go back to leveling your warrior and start the Rdm.

Going this route your Rdm will have most of the spells and magic skills it needs capped. Thf and Mnk both make decent Subs for a new Warrior to use. You'll need to level Blm and Whm eventually for subs for your Rdm anyways and you can then use the thf sub when farming.

Other route:

Level Warrior & Red Mage to 20 or so and then do the rest. Not much different but the first route allows you to get prepared to be able to play your warrior for a longer period of time before you need to switch off and do other things.

Once you hit lvl 30 it would be worthwhile to unlock some jobs and level them up too (ninja, samurai). Lots of the gear you'd have collected for War&Monk can be re-used. This will give you a chance to level up the Whm and Blm subs as well.

Hello Jeziah and welcome to Nasomi!

I don't know that you would have a terribly hard time finding parties even in your timezone. There is a pretty active EU community as well as US. Also, I agree with everything Rori said.

Im using whm as main and war as "pet". The war got these 2 macros.
/follow whm

and an Assist macro
/assist whm
/echo Assist time!
/wait 1
/attack <t>

This macro lets the War target Whm's target and attack it.

I also use joypad and FFXIswitchmon(see downloads on this site). And mapped the Select button to swap between the 2 chr's.

With the War always following the WHM, I can then just let the WHM point on a target, and the War runs and kills, just like a nice pet does ;) When killed, War comes back to whm :)

Play with it an dhave patience. DBing isnt learned overnight. And when you get used to it, you will feel naked or something is missing if not both chr's are logged in and doing stuff.

(Fishing + crafting at the same time.. mmm love it)

Have fun !
