Do you think goblin bomb toss damage should be reduced?

So the title pretty much says it all. Goblins were tough enough before with their incredibly strong bomb toss, basically unkillable for exp parties. Now that monsters TP @ 1000 everytime (which is supposed to be 3000 right?) they are just a joke unless you are doing BST or SMN parties in which case now they give even more exp than before. There are a bunch of goblin camps that basically can't even be done because of this without a PL and in some cases mass death still occurs (looking at dunes and jungles). To list a few areas which would be opened up for exp with such a fix:

Valkurm Dunes: Campfires at liz area, fly camp area, forest before secret beach.
Yuhtunga/Yhoator Jungle: So many camps i'm not going to bother listing them. This is also very problematic for people who want to exp on mandies here because if a goblin is aggroed and happens to bomb, rip that whole group. On retail gobs were part of the targeted experience mobs in this zone.
Eastern Altepa Desert: Lake by Outpost
Labyrinth of Onzozo: Zone entrance and opposite side of cockatrice camp.


TLDR; Goblin bomb damage should be adjusted to open up more exp camps. Are there plans for this?

Issue is that bomb toss damage is based off current HP of the goblin and since they love to spam TP moves at 100% still, it sucks. The overall damage is still high.

Just as an update. I was in a party the other day at torama in onzozo. A gob VT- Gob aggroed which was DPSed down to 52% before it bombed, and even then, with barfira and shellra 2 it did 868dmg to everyone and killed our Galka PLD...

If you have the correct jobs, you can kill anything. Goblins use bomb toss often (one of only 2 tp moves), and if they're at high hp, you are likely to die. It has always been like this. But, you're asking for someone to fix the coding for a problem you can take care of yourself, really.

... Okay, maybe not you directly, but your carbuncle can!

Also, you have abilities that you can utilize in such a situation to counter the effectiveness of bomb toss. Did your paladin bother to shield bash? Did you have fire resistance gear at your disposal? Keep mages 17 yalms away, perhaps?

Knowledge and preparation is half the battle in FFXI. This game is known for being notoriously hard, and equally rewarding if done right. I mean, isn't that why most of us play?

Goblin Bomb toss is firing off faster than the redline tp animation indicates on this server, it is literally impossible to stun unless you get lucky. By the time you see the redlines and "Readies bomb toss" it is already too late to stun it. The issue is not with only Bomb Toss but an issue with all suicide tp moves that do absurd damage. I had a 1% Chaos Doll blow up for 500dmg in Lower Delfkutt's Tower while trying to learn a blu spell from them. Stinging Sophie final stinged a level 15 for almost 900 damage and that is a level 10 NM.

I've seen 2.5k final stings from those Vespo bee's in the CN basement while leveling bst there and that bee was around 25%HP remaining. There is something seriously wrong in how suicide tp moves are calculated, damage wise.

While we're talking about OP tp moves, monsters breath damage is still broken. I had a 75pld LS mate get Magnitite Clouded for 400 damage on a too-weak Antican in the desert. Raptors are still hitting for absurd damage on breaths even at mid to low hp and Barfira active. I think there is a misconception on bar spells by some, that is only a chance at resisting that element, it does not give you MDB or -% magic dmg taken from that element.


A "took weak" goblin suicide bomb toss killed my 75 thf who was literally at full hp. Despite being a taru, that should never happen.

I'm Galka and normally survive Bomb Toss, provided I'm at full HP. I've never seen a Tarutaru live through one.

Which is absurd, considering they can spam it... I've taken over 1k damage from one before (~880 plus over 200 SS)

It is not unlikely to die from a suicide bomb toss, although the goblin will die afterwards, too. A goblin cannot "spam" suicide bomb tosses, and the damage is much less lethal from a bomb toss in which the goblin does not drop the bomb.

On a side note, Wasps "Final Sting" TP move can only be used after the mob has lost more than 50% of its health, and deals damage corresponding to its remaining HP when used - no special formulas here. Not to mention its just single target, and cannot go through shadows.

The true issue at hand is that monsters use TP moves too often. Be wary of the inherent danger that presents itself throughout the world of Vanadiel, lest your adventures be cut short.

I've talked to Nasomi about the TP spam issue.. It used to be that they TP'd at 100% all the time but he said he implemented a fix for it that makes it more random. I still think that it's not random enough, as they definitely didn't spam moves every 8-10 seconds (like they do now) back in retail era
