I'm going to say the opposite and call that whole situation retarded. Godmode panic'ed and acted prematurely and this ended up becoming a huge memey shitshow. If my host tells me that a C&D letter was sent via email and you then also tell me that an official notice will be making its way to me via certified mail, i'm not acting on it until I get the official certified notice in my hand. I understand this was probably an "oh shit moment" for him, shit got real, and you're probably out there in panic mode while seeking advice from people in the law arena about it. In this regard, I totally understand his decision.
As for the host, how does the host not get back to its customer, days after an alleged C&D letter has been potentially sent by a multi-billion dollar company who just issued some potential legal threats against one of your clients? Is the host locked down in Quarantine in Wuhan or something? How do you pay for a service and not have customer service all over it within 24 hours after the incident? I find it insanely hard to believe he has not heard back from the host this long into the process.
Something doesn't add up here to me.
This is actually totally common in a lot of service based industries. You pass along what you have and then you keep your mouth shut 100% until you have anything else to pass along. You don't speculate, you don't answer the customer's questions, you don't do fucking anything until your lawyer has document in hand and tells you what is in your best interests from a legal perspective.
Not saying this is legitimate because I don't have a clue, but you definitely cannot take radio silence from the service provider as an indicator of anything whatsoever.
