I get the change of EXP tables to be more era accurate, but what I don't understand is turning off EXP rings and making low level exp camps legitimately terrible.

Is the aim here to discourage new players and artificially rise the price of crystals?

Her finally turned off rings? I used one yesterday. Low level exp camps legitimately terrible? Where are you exping? Unless you mean 1-12 which had always been a pain on retail, even after the treasure casket update.

Rings have been turned off today.

Retail accurate camps in the dunes arent a thing here, and the new lizards camp have been changed to have goblins/undeads spawn in the middle of them last patch.

I was just in the Dunes at the level 12-15 camps and found that while yes, mobs do roam more. It is nothing a slight change in camp location(aka not out in the middle) will do. Keep raging at minimal exp changes though instead of the things that are actually game breaking(Ex: AoE claim bug).

Edit: We had rings for months, the fact that he turned them off again is not surprising at all.

You're acting as if fixing one meant leaving the other as is forever. The claimsteal exploit is obviously an issue (which I've been a victim of just yesterday), along with many other things like certain job's genkai 5s not working, forcing them to level other jobs from scratch to be able to even reach 75 and a myriad of other extremely bothersome bugs.

The point of this thread is just me putting myself in other peoples' boots, understanding that the server is buggy enough as is to be releasing patches that specifically focus on making the early game experience worse for newer players.

Things getting changed requires peoples to speak up about them.

Not forever but Nasomi's "soon" is even worse than any game developer out there. ToAU Roadmap ring any bells?

Okay, then why are you not posting about those and instead complaining that things are a little more era accurate? Nasomi's time is finite and every thread like this one, complaining about trivial things, takes his time away from actually getting content released.

Nasomi does read the forums.

If a person is going to quit because they have a slightly longer time getting 1-12(or 1-21 for that matter), they weren't going to stay around for a long time. I literally just went and unlocked 6 jobs on Deft for his Maat's Cap that are all going to need to do 1-66+. So I am one of the "affected players".

Are you playing on the same server as I am? You know "WoRkInG aS iNtEnDeD" is one of Nasomi's favorite responses to bugs?

I'm not making a post about them because there's already several (3+) threads made about that, and it's obvious Nasomi is aware given the fact bans have already been handed out.

I have pulled several peoples on FFXI/this server, and the low level exping is definitely what caused the most to get discouraged. Once the ball gets rolling tho, they get addicted just like any of us.

The exp ring is in era, so having it turned off doesnt make any sense to begin with. Not sure why you seem to disagree. If you think it's a waste of time, you should also say that in the thread complaining about Kuftal's mobs placement?

That ban was for MPK, not claim stealing. If you have info on someone being banned for utilizing the claim steal method, please share.

Because the mobs in Kuftal have been off since before I got here and they still are to this day? You're not supposed to have 10+ worms that aggro sound near PW spawn, at most 4-6, and they aren't supposed to aggro. The fact that mobs now enter the water is a welcome change to me.

Forgot: My point about exp rings is they haven't been active for any extended period of time on this server until recently. To expect that to be the new normal is kind of foolish.

Having the ring turned off occasionally when EP/DC/EM mobs were legitimate ways of exping when outside of a group was alright. Having it turned off and nerfing the exp tables, while also making exp camps less convenient just seems a bit forceful. The fact I think that doesnt mean I don't think the Kuftal situation shouldnt also be fixed, just like anything else on the server.

Regarding the ban, regardless of the reasons, it means Nasomi is well aware of the bug. Witty comments about him pointing things out as being features aside, I'm pretty sure the guy knows fully well how much of a problem this is if he's aware of it, especially given what has been going down since it was implemented. Don't get me wrong, I'm just irritated as the next guy about what this servers gets wrong, but getting offensive about it with other players won't make matter any better.

I'm done discussing this topic. I just wanted to make a post because I've seen peoples be legitimately upset about the ring going away despite the severe exp nerfs, but no post on the forums. And given the fact, as you said, that Nasomi does read the forum, pointing this out made sense to me.
