Hi all and sorry for the newbie question. I can't figure out where the "log out" or "exit game" button is in the menus, been having to stop it through Task Manager. Could someone please enlighten me on this please? thank you.

Near the bottom of the menu, on the second screen. You can also do /logout or /shutdown while in-game. It will instantly exit the game for you if you're in your mog house, and will count down from 30 seconds if you're anywhere else in the world.
