Do you think goblin bomb toss damage should be reduced?
Yes, it's OP as hell. 64%  64%  [ 21 ]
No, Goblins weren't meant to be exp'd on. 9%  9%  [ 3 ]

From my memory of exp parties on goblins in retail since 2003 to 2006, the common tactic was to fight it disengaged so you can quickly run away when it prepares the Bomb Toss. This worked really well if all the melee stand at the max allowed melee range already, you can quickly escape the AoE blast, taking 0 dmg while the goblin blew himself up. It was actually preferred that they suicide that way, instead of regular Bomb Toss at someone.

I haven't played on Nasomi yet (setting up now and updating!), but is that the case on this server, can you escape AoE with good timing?

No. The range is huge and distance does not seem to be a factor in the damage done.

Yeah and TP moves are a lot harder to stun here. It seems like there is less time to stun or something. I seem to remember trying to stun gobs to get them to drop the bomb...

yes, trying to dodge lizards baleful gaze, for example, is much harder than retail.

here you have to turn around as soon as you see the mob start its charge up animation, before the text ever comes up in log. which is obnoxious, because it means you have to turn around for every tp move

I noticed this too but just assumed it was a latency thing.

I'm from Australia, so the retail server in Japan gave me 200ms latency (similar to my latency now to the Nasomi server) and back then I had no issues with stunning enemy TP moves, with Shield Bash, Stun spell, even TP WS with stun. No issues with running out of AoE (Goblins or Gigas), turning around to avoid petrify WS etc.

Exping on goblin in the Dunes & Khazam was common as their suicide move meant faster EXP if you avoid the AoE. :)
