I was thinking more along the lines of RDM taking the trick attacks to handle the tanking so THF could line up sneak attacks with assassin charge and dodge potential losses on CE, but what you're saying about keeping bio up and swapping tank to thf to save rescources makes sense too. So many options when rdm+thf duo ^^

Well Phalanx I is better than fully merited phalanx II if we're talking about the rdm tanking

Oh, I see, I wonder if phalanx 2 would even be worth the merits then o.0, seems it'd be the rdm doing the brute of the tanking, even if it's just to enhance the thfs dmg. Would Bio 3 5/5, Slow 2, 3/5 and para 2 2/5 be better than anything in phalanx 2? I never found myself able to rely on para personally, but I guess it or blind 2 would serve about the same purpose, except para could proc on a tp skill, making it the better option ya? Guess rdm could just 5/5 bio 3 and slow 2, and save earth acc merits for ice and wind to land silence/gravity and bind better. Then again capping slow 2 seems like such a waste for real.... Afaik 3 in slow 2 is enough macc to land on anything (xcept maybe kirin) then it's just a matter of fMND to get the % of the effect up.

I've personally never gone the phalanx II rout, though there are reasons why you might: Aquarius, Charybdis, Chigre, flying wyrms, and Bhaflau Remnants come to mind. In regards to the other enfeebles, 2 macc is not going to make or break your hit rate anywhere so it makes some sense to sprinkle merits around. A merit into Blind II could be worth it if you're paired with a thf or nin often. One merit into Dia III can be nice because most merit mobs and most zergs don't last longer than 30 seconds; additionally, if you tag something with dia to claim, that you then need to sleep, overwriting Dia I with Dia III with only a 30 second duration can help you sleep it faster. I've never been keen on Para II for the simple reason that Para I has such a low recast. A big part of what makes Slow II nice is it gives you two spells to try to land instead of one, which is big against a slow resistant mob; the extra potency to me is just icing on the cake.

All my years in ffxi and I didn't even think about using dia 3 to overwrite for a shorter dot.... That's a neat trick, thanks for that info ^^

K? Where are they then? I'm pressing X to doubt what you're saying.

In a vacuum, I'm sure it's "possible". But I don't think you or any RDM for that matter, the real Avesta included, could do it with any regularity.

Cool, which "era" was this in for Nasomi or retail? I see you're using Composure which is something we don't have currently. Try again.

Edit: Also those /ma cure3 me and /rem type casts are not allowed here.

GAIZ, IT'S POSSIBLE BUT I USED THESE THINGS YOU DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO OR AREN'T ALLOWED VIA RULES!!!!!1!!11!11one

2nd edit: This must have been post-99 cap as 2hrs were still 2hrs when I played through Abysseaa. REALLY TRY AGAIN.

Those things made it easier sure, certainly wasn't make or break though. In fact, with the exception of composure and, as Deadwing said prior, some WoTg equips, I didn't have anything like that as I was playing on the Xbox 360, at the time.

Again though, in the face of two good RDM/NIN with the criticals (in this case, af2 body/head, af1 head/Dalm/haste/pdt/fire resist/etc) the aforementioned wouldn't have been the difference of defeat. Two good RDM/NIN can hold near enough anything all day regardless, you claim to have played RDM/NIN so you shouldn't find that prospect unbelievable. So it shouldn't be unbelievable that two RDM could whittle down something that doesn't rage eventually--though to be fair, Cerberus has a slight regen if I remember so I wouldn't try it without at least one Excalibur, you would seriously be there for days slapping it with Joyeuse, or something.

Regarding era changes, there are some major differences, and none of which truly devalue this Cerberus duo, because the differences primarily pertain to elemental magic (they cast a lot faster, cheaper, and deal more damage) but you still can not feasibly 'nuke' Cerberus at Lv.75, so this was moot. Another one is many weaponskills received a huge ftp boost, which again is pretty moot--Deadwing was the only one melee'ing to any serious effect, and was never able to obtain 1000TP before swapping Excalibur out for other weapons. And that is basically that, enemies weren't weaker, they didn't attack slower or deal less damage--at the point of this video the only major adjustment was elemental magic and weaponskills as they reworked it a lot for the point that relevant retail content was at. The biggest thing you can argue for is composure but honestly, when there is two of you it's merely a convenience rather than a necessity.

As for our level, no clear cut way to make you believe we were Lv.75, what I can say though, is our HP/MP pools are pretty damn reminiscent of Lv.75, in addition, if we were Lv.80 or above, Slow and Poison wouldn't have been near as difficult as they were to land--not to mention Ululation would have been resisted frequently. Ultimately and as said aforementioned, if you played RDM in the capacity you say you did, this should not be an unbelievable feat. Frankly, I was more impressed we managed to sit through it all rather than the kill itself---Cerberus' stopping power is quite light with two.

Yeah man, you were my first choice. Val was my second and he actually reached out to me about wanting to do it; Deft didn't bite though, and now he seems to have bigger problems.

You could duo it with Val if you wanted to do it for sport and a cerb hide. Red hot crackers, plenty of remedies, refresh gear > excal accuracy gear, hit rate'll be shit no matter what. You really have to claw for every % under 25 sometimes because of the 1k stoneskins he likes to pop off. It's totally doable though and quite a ride.

Also, can you PM me your e-mail address? I deleted facebook.
