You're strongly misunderstanding what the assumption of equal skill means. It doesn't mean everyone is equally good, it means the 2 people you're comparing are - BEFORE the comparison started.

If your difficulty is having 2 people who are equally skilled existing, then, as I said, that isn't 100% their fault. It's up to linkshells/groups of having a good base to choose from. If you choose someone who is dualboxing, given what I just said, then you're missing out, and are essentially filling a slot just to fill a slot. The difficulty to a linkshell/group of having that skilled base of players seems to be what the underlying issue is about (comparing Fid to Godz? really?). If it is that difficult for you to have a skilled group of 6, go ahead and fill some of the slots with dualboxers, but you're missing out due to laziness.

Dual boxing is more effective than single boxing. That is fact. This is a slow paced game with plenty of time to tab between characters. As epyon said, it is amazing what a solid dd and a rdm dual box can accomplish. Nabutso is just aggressive on this subject due to being nabutso and having partied with dual boxers who had the gall to put both characters in the party or I think he mentioned once someone playing two different parties once. My PSA: Don't hecking do that. One character exps. The other outside heals. If you try to stick both your characters in the same exp party, you are a leech. If you put them both in separate exp parties, you should have your dual boxing license revoked. That is scummy to everyone you're playing with. Nabutso, you know the response you're asking for when you say a generalized, silly statement like "dual boxing is dumb."

i dont like dual boxing ppl because then there is no place for a whm or rdm in the pt, and if you don't heal, you're useless, so people ask you to leave and take a dps, or it's just boring ~

WHM yes. RDM no. I've been the RDM in a party with three people dualboxing w/ their RDM PLs. We ran a single continuous exp chain and there was plenty for me to do.

Most of the parties that Ive been in that have gotten the most xp/run out of mobs, had a rdm or whm in the group. Dia, dispell, erase. We'll have a party with 3-4 DDs all with their own 75 rdm box, and I still want those three spells. Erase is unfortunately the least desirable of the three normally. Also, curing other status effects so I dont have to scroll through the menu on my box is nice, as I dont have them macroed, and am generally trying to keep my character alive with all kinds of evasion and defense down gear on and berserk running more often than not.

Nobody is likely to disagree with your initial point; dualboxers aren't as effective as two players of equal skill playing those characters would be. So what?

You keep referring to a group of 6. Are you talking about EXP parties? If so, it's ridiculous to think that there will always be 6 skilled and geared players seeking a party and playing appropriate jobs at the same time. It's equally ridiculous to suggest that the absence of such players is due in part to anyone's failure. There are simply far too many job and level combinations you might need at any given time.

If you aren't referring to EXP parties, why in the world are you limiting it to 6 people? Lots and lots of things are done with somewhere between 6 and 18 characters. If you have 24 characters, you can often split into two groups of 12 and be more efficient. If you have 18 single-boxers, you have...18 characters. A single alliance. If you have 18 skilled dual-boxers, you have 36 characters. You can split into 2 or even 3 groups, depending on what it is you are trying to accomplish. What is the downside?

I had no problems finding a party on WHM. I'm salty because I've never met a dualboxer who played either of their 2 characters as well as any decent player who played only one at a time.

That is not true. Like Aeroo said this game is slow paced. I know people who are just as efficient with 2 chars as with one. Though I am not sure if that also counts for situations where you have to be at your absolute max concentration. A few situations also make this a bit hard like being main tank and having to stun a particular move. That might not work. But especially for exping you can easily dualbox and be just as good as with one char. If I have time to choose my spells through the spell menu without losing any efficiency because I am too lazy to use macros for nukes and most spells then I am sure many people are capable of dual boxing an exp party or most events.

I got tired of constantly saying 6/18 so I just said 6. No, obviously I don't just mean EXP parties.

What makes 6/18 with singleboxers better than 12/18 with dualboxers?
