It does - Except there's really no way to make yalm distance influence the ranged formula without being a massive nerf to some part of the game for RNG. People will survive. They'll level other jobs. It just makes RNG fairly useless for LS's with the flexibility to use other jobs, and that's a shame because it used to be a fun job.
Maseki acts like people are quitting, or predicting a mass suicide or something. All they said was that Nas ruined a previously fun job, and Nas/Nab lied about it while he did it. That's all true. Sorry if that bothers someone to correctly talk about the situation.
Fair points. I played RNG on retail but only post-adjustment, and I don't have RNG leveled here but I feel like it should be changed so that only the ranged attack damage is effected by distance. If you're missing it's a problem. If you're doing 10% less damage because you're not in optimal range -- that's not so bad.
I disagree that RNG isn't useful though. The two events where we used RNG most often on retail were Jailer of Love and Odin. RNG will still be fine on JoL and Odin isn't implemented yet, but there's little reason to suspect that RNG won't be good against it once it is (he shouldn't be moving). Other than that we never really used it on retail. Kirin should be straight tanked once you have good DDs, and it's not a necessity for any other HNM.
I agree that this is a nerf that hit them hard in merit parties. That's unfortunately true. So if Nas wants RNG to be able to merit effectively, this change should be adjusted. I'm trying to remember on retail how often I saw RNGs in merit parties but I can't remember bringing them very often if at all. Merit parties for me were definitely WAR, SAM, DRG, DRK and pre-ToAU, MNK. But maybe I just didn't have enough RNG friends on retail.
