To be honest, at this point I wouldn't even put it past him though. Can we please not get rid of sub job diversity for the sake of staying true to '05 content, since this server is now trying to move to ToAU '07 era? This change would make the meta game even more boring and stale than it already is and will undoubtedly hurt the server more than it would help. I'm all for knocking Sam down a peg, but this is not the way to go about it.
Honestly I am very thankful that Nasomi dedicates his time and resources to running this server. I know I have been very critical of him in this thread but it's only because I actually am enjoying playing this game again. If he makes sweeping changes to another job that really upsets the player base (especially a popular job like SAM) I think it would be a pretty big blow for the server. Ultimately people will will continue to play but it might cause a few more people to end their playing days here.
I get that it's his server and he is going to make the changes he wants to see but circling back to Ranger, I feel like he made some uneducated decisions in regards to the job. He states he had to make these Ranged updates because Ranger would be getting TP way too quick if he did not and to me this is the biggest tell that Nasomi doesn't know anything about Ranger. If he did he'd know that no Ranger stands in melee range to gain tp. None of us count on melee tp gains to fill our bar, we're spamming our ranged attack macro as soon as our ranged attack animation ends to shoot another arrow. I do far more damage and gain more tp by shooting my bow than I do hitting the mob with my dagger. These sweeping assumptions led to a huge change and what most of us call a massive nerf to a job that we play. I really hope that he doesn't make these sweeping changes to arguably the most popular and top DD currently in Samurai because while most people agree SAM could use a bit of a nerf, it's no fun to play a job after it's been hit with the nerf bat.
And for the record I do recall Nas saying he also thought Ranged jobs should have to stand at range to do damage. I am totally on board with that, I just wish he would have worked on enmity a little bit so that after my third arrow the mob wasn't already on me and making my party run the 8 yalms over to me to get it back under control. I'd be 85% ok with this change if there was some sort of ranged attack enmity change. The 15% of me that would still be mad is the fact that thf's have been severely gimped by the 4 yalm crossbow sweetspot as you cannot land bolts reliably when soloing any longer.
