FWIW, if you get a few THF and a meat shield of some kind together with a SMN (or /SMN post-62), you can rock pretty hard at the right camps (I mean, it's no 50k/hr, but 20k/hr or so is definitely doable with a PL or two). More support is always better of course, but even just a /COR or /BRD or something can help a ton as long as you're at least getting Rolling Thunder on all the DDs. Great way to gather some friends and get those generally-neglected-from-invites jobs like THF, PLD, SMN up. Constantly TA'ing onto your friends have having the birbs steal their mithkabobs/crab sushi is half the fun, highly recommend it (that, and the hilarity of trying to work with 4x THF to line up sneak attack is totally worth).

I don't think anyone's saying a well geared thief who knows how to play their job on a piercing weak mob is a bad choice by any means in a certain level bracket. All we're saying is that there IS a certain stigma regarding thief, regardless of their actual effectiveness within a party, and that its the last job you want to be giving others even more reason not to invite you. The issue is, the OP even states he's aware of this, yet spits in the face of it as if he doesn't have to abide by an issue he's already well aware of. Dude's got serious "victim syndrome" and honestly shouldn't be playing a game that involves coordinating with 5 other people at once.

Oh I agree 100%, 'you can lead a horse to water' and all that. I'm stuck in the low 60's on my THF right now, so I understand the stigma 100% (go figure, the only invites I get lately are when I'm afk/not-seeking and people are desperate for a sync.. sigh). I just wanted to point out that "sata-burn" (or really, dual-wield piercing burn w/ rolling thunder for added awesomeness) really can be a thing if you can get enough competent players together, and it's a lot of fun :)

while we're at it and complaining about things we entirely control...

i struggle to get invites because some dumb people don't like me. I think 13 pages on this topic is a safe place to share this.

I appreciate these threads for teaching me which players to avoid like the plague. I don't give a shit what rank Docomo hits, I'm never joining up with him because his attitude is absolute garbage.

It's always weird when you get a nostalgia kick because you forgot what it was like to deal with 12 year-olds in an online game. Not 'fun' nostalgia, of course. Just like, 'oh yeah, wow. Those people exist. Gross.'

you could have gotten to rank 5 in the amount of time you've spent arguing about rank not mattering

yet still can't tell me, why does your rank matter when it comes to leveling? why does it matter what mission you're on to reach 75, it's basic game play of killing mobs repeatedly over and over again to reach a point, why do you need rank to show you can level up? you're telling me it's hard killing the same mob hours on end?

there are great xp camps pre 75 gated behind both zm and cop missions

if you ain't doing your rank missions, you can't do your zm missions and I doubt anyone that can't get to rank 6 is doing COP either, lol

I'm rank 3 and did CoP ;;

Docomo, you do realize by your own logic that if you make it to 75 and have to then stop fishing and rank up to proceed with endgame content, you're still going to lose just as much time/money as you would if you just do it now, right?

The difference being that it is actively impeding you currently, which also slows down just about everything else you might hope to do. End of the day though its your choice, congrats on 75 six months from now at your current pace.

At what point do people start thinking your rank is acceptable to send an invite?

I am rank 3, started playing mid December, and am 73.5 SMN with numerous other jobs 50+.

I have had no issues at all getting party invites. I don't think my low rank has had a negative impact to me finding groups.

I have completed half of CoP but no one can see that I don't think. I should actually hit 75 tonight. Maybe just better people skills? I don;t know what the difference is. Maybe it's just THF ?
