Yeah I wouldnt argue that its better, especially since Couse +1 is such a badass polearm for WAR, and with level sync, you can use it from 60-75. I will say tho that Great Axe (with merits) was a DPS increase over polearm after Colossal Axe +1, even against flys. Granted I dont have polearm merits.
I feel like people underestimate the difference a skill gap can make. Unmerited Polearm on Samurai kinda made me sad in KRT, cause the Warriors that had it merited were absolutely crushing it and my WS were just kinda embarrassing by comparison lol. But of course the nature of Samurai (and piss poor GKT options in that range with no Kouryukagemitsu available) means my GKT WS wouldn't have been any better. But accuracy and damage per hit would've been.

I, admittedly, forgot about polearm. That's fine too. I just find GAXE boring.
I have to ask, why is Polearm less boring than Great axe?
That aside...I leveled one war to 40 (my main) with dual axes, the other (ALT) with a great axe. Shield/Armor Break are pretty hard to argue with, it was kinda like having my own personal bard. And if we had a bard too? Lord have mercy upon whatever the puller brought in...but that's not to say 2x axes were bad by any stretch of the imagination. Especially if you could merit axes ahead of time. It's perfectly viable, and how I'm going to level my main's Warrior if I ever get around to it. Not high on the to-do list though, with 3 jobs @ 75 there's enough on my plate, time to slow down and work the merit grind between HNM camps I guess.
I got to watch someone using the Juggernaut/Ridill combination. He was pretty much the tank full stop. It bumped Ridill much higher on my wantlist. Even if I am a pleb DRK that can only use Maneater/Ridill. Soon...
